Not sure about the Indian half of their offerings, but the pizza half is fair at best. Or maybe the Indian pizza is the bomb. Perhaps I'll try that.

What? I was in the neighborhood and went here because of all the reviews saying it was cheap and good. It was neither. Average Indian food, slightly below average pizza. $45 for 3 people who didn't order alcohol. Used to paying much less than that for okay Indian food in a dumpy atmosphere. Service was friendly but lackluster and slow.

This place has great "Indian pizza". Spinach curry, tandori chicken, yummy! Sub-par service, but the pizza is worth the lack of service and the trek to the outer Sunset.

love the pizza.. truely it the fave out here in the Outside lands... but their website is hard to use and I am never sure if it really goes thru. would rather look at it online then call in the order. but yummy it is delicious. much better than many of the "italian' places around!

The bf wanted pizza but I wanted indian food so we decided to order from this place. the delivery was pretty quick and the online ordering system was easy. The tikka masala was creamy and tasty, the deluxe pizza was not bad at all, and the samosas were huge and good, it came with two types of dipping sauces a sweet brown sauce and a green sauce. I also ordered the tandori shrimp and it was really good too. Will order again!

my partner and i had been wanting to check it out for months but never remembered. until on a whim we decided to rush over right before their buffet closed. i came here for their lunch buffet 30 min before it was supposed to end. most places, when you show up at a near-closing buffet, you'll end up with cold, left over remnants of food. not this place! golden gate cooks their dishes in small batches, all of which was frequently replenished AS IT WAS EATEN. meaning their food was fresh despite being 30 min before the end of their buffet, of which time the restaurant opens into their dinner menu. their food was great. the masala. the gobi. the paneer. they have a hot pot of chai on tap and huge rice cooker of biryani, and give you a generous basket of naan to go with your food. we didn't feel rushed to hurry up so they could set up for dinner. the server refilled our waters and asked if we needed anything else (like more naan, or if we needed extra napkins). they kept their buffet more than 30 min open, and we took our time eating and enjoying the food. golden gate definitely made me feel great, both in terms of service and for their wonderful food. i'm SO glad we rushed to golden gate that day!

Sad to say that this is my second (and entirely less favorable than my first ) review of Golden Gate's pizza. This is the 3rd time I've ordered pizza and the first two times it was great. This time, the pizza box was literally dripping oil from my front door to my kitchen. i didn't notice it while the delivery guy was still there or else I would have had him take it back. Wayyyyyyy too oily and portions of the crust were burnt. The pizza was not inedible but so far from the beautiful, perfect pies I had experienced that I now have to find a new pizza delivery place. So, consistency does not appear to be this place's strong point. Boo! It was so good before. And, since they don't deliver for under $30, it's too expensive to try again.

First and foremost, I always get taken back by menus that are hung on my front door and usually trash the menu as I don't need a door ornament. This time around, the husband decided he wanted to try this place. I wasn't sure if he was kidding or if he was serious but he really wanted to try the Chicken Indian Pizza. I was sketchy at first and even so uneasy about the Indian Pizza. So, off we went and ordered the pizza for delivery as well as one order each of the samosas and meat samosas. To my surprise...the pizza was actually delicious. I give them 4 stars for their tasty-ness, creativity, and fast delivery. It took about 20 minutes for them to deliver and it was still piping hot. The meat samosas were a bit dry to my likings as I had tastier ones before but it doesn't sway me from ordering them again...ha ha. In any event, I have to admit that this place made it into our rotation when we're looking for food delivery and have ordered from this place again.

The buffet selection at this restaurant is pretty small. The non vegetarian options on the buffet are limited. The indian twist to the pizza is unique and chai was pretty good.

I have been wanting to review this place for almost a year now but never got around to it, so here it goes. First a disclaimer, I order the same thing every single time, so if you are not interested in hearing about Chicken Tikka Masala, Rice, Naan and Mango Chutney..well stop reading. This place is in a scary, dirty parking lot, but hey, free parking, deal with it. Once you get inside, the staff is so nice you'll forget about the meth deal going on outside. The food: As I said I have only eaten the above mentioned dishes and they are the BEST!!! The Chicken Tikka Masala ( I order it spicy) is so good, I am a total addcit now..I need it every week, without fail. The rice is awesome and has really good spices in it, the Naan is hot, fluffy and delish, the chutney has huge chucks of mango and will help to ease the pain that I start to feel with the chicken, I know I could say " less spicy" but I love the burning feeling it gives me..I am sick like that. The staff is really nice and when you get to know them, pretty funny, I went there last week with my boyfriend, not only did did our server remember our usual order ( I guess that isn't too hard ,but still) when the bill came she gave it to my boyfriend. I explained that he forgot his wallet so I was paying and reached for the bill and she held on to it and said " no good, we can wait while he goes home to get it" She then stood there smiling at him, waiting.... I am not sure if she was kidding or not...but it was pretty funny....I doubt he'll " forget" his wallet again.... Check this place out, you"ll be happy you did!

YUM! I have found my go-to Sunset delivery. This is my friend's favorite tikka masala in the city (and he and his wife eat a lot of indian food), so we went there one night ( I was still living in the Mission so we were going "over there"), and had the Indian foods, which were all good. This was about a year ago so I really don't remember if the nan was chewy, or whatever the other reviewers said. I do remember that they were watching TV the whole time and the service was somewhat indifferent, although not mean. Anyway, I was continuing my search for good delivery in the Sunset and remembered going to Golden Gate that one time. It said PIZZA and INDIAN FOOD. One thing my boyfriend loves is pizza. He does not like indian food. I like indian food and since we have been together I have not eaten nearly enough Indian food. I had to sneak off, as you read, with other friends to eat it when he was at work. Anyway, I checked the (very nice) website, and they make, besides Indian food and "Indian Pizza," a selection of illinois-boy favorites including ("American") pizza and hamburgers. Holy crap! Anyway, I ordered (online). Large extra cheese thin crust for him. I ordered samosas, mataar paneer, nan, and veg pakora for me. But I have never tried "indian pizza". So I deleted my previous order and got the small vegetarian indian pizza. And the samosas. They were here within an hour (on a Saturday night-pretty good), boyfriend's pizza was thin crusted and VERY cheesy. I tasted it and the cheese tasted like it was probably even a decent quality mozzerella. The crust was a little limp but it was under like, 10 pounds of cheese. They mean extra cheese when they say extra cheese. My Indian pizza was kick ass! Just like having Indian food AND pizza at the same time!! Delicious! And after I'd warmed the samosas up a bit in the oven they were good too. This is what my plate looks like. Cup of spicy green samosa sauce. Cup of sweet samosa sauce. Indian pizza. Samosa. Ranch dressing. Awesome.

Horrible service and wait times. I placed an order online at 6:30. Called at 6:55 to find out when it would be ready. He said 10-15 minutes. I walked in at 7:15-- 20 minutes after I called-- and saw that they only had one table sat in the whole place. Must have been busy for takeout since I had to then watch them make my entire order! Yup, they hadn't even started making it until I arrived, 45 minutes after ordering and 20 minutes after calling. After 10 minutes I asked the guy when it would be ready, and let him know that I called 30 minutes ago and he told me 10-15 mins. He didn't apologize, just told me to wait a few more minutes and that I should sit down. So helpful. It was finally ready and luckily I checked the bag- they hadn't put any dressing on my salad, or on the side- and I had even ordered an extra side of dressing. So I had to wait a few more minutes for them to put dressing in a to-go cup for me. I don't really care how the food tastes at this point, I won't go back because of the service.

I did not expect the food to be nearly as good as it is as Golden Gate. The best chicken tikka masala I have ever had and as noted by other reviewers great curries all around. The samosas are good and the only area GG doesn't stand head and shoulders above places like Naan 'n Curry is the naan, which is fine but obviously not a top priority of the kitchen. Better for take out or delivery.

BEST INDIAN in the city. While the parking at the actual restaurant is limited, the food is delicious and the people are extremely nice. Delivery is fast and reliable. Highly recommended.

I've never had the pizza here, but spend my idle time dreaming about the Saag Paneer and Mango Lassi's. Sometimes I head across town to this little gem to get my fix and introduce friends who appreciate great Indian food.

I was skeptical of this place at first -- Indian AND pizza? -- but decided to give it a shot anyhow. Ordered online at 6:03 PM on a Friday night, decided on the vegetarian Indian pizza and some veggie pakoras. I called 15 minutes later to make sure they got the order; they told me they had and that it would be there in 45-50 minutes. By 6:45 there was a knock on my door (this is from Golden Gate Park to Daly City -- did they fly?) with my order. Pakoras were good, still somewhat crispy, which I wouldn't expect from delivery pakoras, and well-seasoned. The pizza was great, sauce was basically saag, covered in cheese and cauliflower, onions, ginger, garlic and tomatoes, with globs of bengan bharta drizzled on it. I thought it was brilliant, and was very surprisingly un-soggy, given the type and quantity of toppings. My one complaint was that the crust was bit chewy for my taste, but otherwise I was very, very impressed and will definitely be ordering from here again. I would also like if there were more variety available in Indian pizzas, but maybe there's just not a demand for that type of thing.

ive ordered from them for 9 yrs and have gone through periods where i swore i will never use them again due to the horrible horrible service and attitude of these jackholes. only to be drawn in by the thought of their vegetarian food and indian pizza. well the last 2 times i ordered the first order took an hour and a half and every time i called they said he left and woukld be theier in a few mins. when the food arrived cold and i called back they couldve cared less and refused to refund my card or remake the food. the last time they sent chicken tika masala instead of paneer. when the lady asked me what i wanted her to do about it i said apologize and send the right food. she just laughed at me. i swear this time will be the last!!!!

Good pizza, free delivery, but still a little expensive. I usually get the vegetarian indian pizza or a pesto pizza. Both are good, but with the pesto pizza they throw on dallops of pesto instead of spreading it on - kind of annoying because some bites are extremely pesto-ey while others are like plain cheese pizza. The samosas and pakoras are pretty good. French fries can be a little soggy sometimes. The salads are ok. I still haven't tried any of the entrees - Italian or Indian. The dining room is usually empty when I go to eat there, so service is excellent.

Indian Pizza joint...say what!? Originally came here while looking for a "late night eats" spot (open until 11:30pm). I've been here a few times now...all due to my craving for their chicken tikki masala!! I love everything about that dish. They make it so yummy and it goes perfectly with their Garlic Naan and/or Rice. I come here just for that! Their menu is pretty extensive - ranging from Indian food to American food and even the best of both with their Indian Pizza (which is good but not a big fan). I've also tried their veggie Samosas - love the potato mushiness; goes well w/ the sauce they provide. So far, I've only been here for dinner. They have a $8 all-you-can-eat Indian buffet which I plan to try one of these days. I would have to prep my stomach for that one.

I really love rich Indian food and until I stumbled onto this place I thought San Francisco just didn't have any. I've only done delivery and and it is so tasty, get the Lamb Korma.

My husband & I have been coming here and getting delivery for over a year, no complaints, until last delivery. pizza came uncooked and looked so disappointing. so, after spending over $25, I had to "doctor it". I was really surprised, so we are hoping it comes cooked properly again, because it's USUALLY SO YUMMY!

Indian pizza sounded like a great idea to me. I love both so why not together?! The outside is not pretty. It's painted bright yellow and right next to a laundry mat and a 7Eleven. At first glance it looks like a normal pizza take out place with an ordering counter and two stool chairs but you take a few steps more and all of a sudden you are in an Indian restaurant! Bf and I came here for dinner at 5:30pm and as you expect it wasn't crowded. We were the only ones there besides a group of Indian guys at another table. Good sign! They only have two Indian pizzas: Vegetarian and Chicken, both with a spinach curry sauce in the place of tomato sauce. We went with a medium Chicken Indian Pizza that was sprinkled with Tandoori chicken, cilantro, ginger, red onions, mozzarella, and slices of tomatoes. The crust was crispy and chewy like a good pizza should be. You could tell it was very fresh from the first bite. The only thing that I was surprised about was how "unethnic" it tasted. I was expecting the curry sauce to be hot with flavor and spice but it was pretty mild. We also ordered a chicken tikki masala and a plate of rice. The chicken was really tender and the sauce made a great dip for the pizza. The creamy spiced tikki masala curry and the pizza: NOW that's what I was expecting! YUMMY :) If you are coming here for Indian food only, I'd say there would be better and cheaper places. $10.95 for chicken tikki masala is the highest I've ever seen in a casual dining spot and that doesn't even come with rice. But I say it's definitely worth a try if you are also ordering a pizza. We thought we'd be stuffed and would have leftover pizza for lunch the next day but we totally killed off everything. Do they have small portions or are we just fat? Two different cuisines usually don't work well together in one restaurant but I wouldn't mind trying the Italian side of things here. I have a feeling it's probably pretty good.

I live a few blocks away and we order from here all the time. The food is consistently really good, and really filling for a decent price. It's only $3.25 for 2 samosas and they both HUGE and DELICIOUS (which is really all you can ask for from your food places). My boyfriend and I always order the Lamb Korma with some rice. It's more than enough for two and is amazing. I didn't even like Indian food before I tried some that my boyfriend ordered from this place, and now I'm hooked. Also, they deliver! I thought maybe they'd give me attitude about asking for delivery when I am literally a block away (nobody wanted to leave the house in bad weather to go pick it up), but they brought it over anyways and it was all hot, fresh, and totally delicious.

When you see the bright yellow building you think huh? then you read Pizza 'and' Indian cuisine, huh? You step past this telephone booth of a room that's dominated by a pizza oven, but then...you get to the back room and it's a nice dimly lit dining room! The pizza here, meh. The Indian cuisine on the other hand, amazing! I highly recommend the veal vindaloo, the tikka masala, chicken tandoori and the naan. Overall, great home style Indian food, with slightly slow service and surprisingly quaint atmosphere. If you like authentic Indian food then give GG a try.

This place is a hidden gem! The vegetarian pizza was so tasty and the service was super nice! The medium pizza fed my sister and I plus some to take home. Plain naan and mango chutni was really yummy also. I definitely recommend!

Um I guess the pizza's good? I ordered kalrahi chicken and chana saag -- sugary dishes without any complexity. Not worth $12. The chicken looks like it belongs on a pizza. Get the pizza if you come here I guess.

Ok, I'm updating this because although that place still bothers me in some ways, our food has been much better lately. We always get the Tikka Masala, Saffron rice, Samosas, and Garlic Naan. Haven't had any complaints the last few times we've gone. The people at the counter have even been friendlier. Good deal. It earns you guys an extra star!

Had a craving for tiki masala yesterday and since most indian places were closed and it is so damn close I ordered from this place again. I must say they stepped up their game. The cuts of chicken I received contained no gristle and fat like they used too and the naan has gotten better too. The people working here are still pretty unfriendly and they still don't give you utensils or napkins with a to go order, but the food has improved so I'll up my rating to 3 stars.

VERY IMPRESSED! Having lived in India for a summer, I like to think I can spot the difference between good and bad Indian food. Saying that, I also usually stay far away from 'everything in one' restaurants such as Golden Gate Pizza and Indian seemed to be. However, the desperate need for delivery of Indian food led to my un-regrettable decision to order from this place. (FYI, when I am less lazy and more organized I will cook up some Indian because I usually make it just as good and more tuned to my tastes than many restaurants) So, as I was saying, this was totally worth ordering! We ordered like every type of naan possible, chicken tikka masala, aloo gobi, saag paneer, and last but not least both meat and vegetarian samosas. All delicious and I can not wait to eat the leftovers today! I really recommend this place to anyone looking for good north Indian food in SF. Plus, delivery is FREE and available online-so super easy.

Ok. This review of mine is based on the buffet lunch they have. Following are the reasons for my 1 star rating: 1. First their website says it's $7.95 but it's actually $10. 2. Plates and spoons looks really dirty. There is some chips on the plates and spoons had some leftover food that was not properly washed. The whole time every bite I put in, I was thinking hopefully I don't get sick. 3. Food was way below par for Indian food. The place where they cook is right behind the counter and it looks really dirty.

Chicken tikka masala pizza was good, tasty, and different. However the dough/crust was thick to chew. Their Naan was soft yet slightly dry. I want to take a pizza adventure around the city. Tikka Chicken masala pizza??? Id say yes: Adventurous!

The Indian pizza is so good. That was the only thing I had here and it was quite tasty. Crisp tomatoes, cauliflower, and the spinach curry sauce was fantastic. The great part was that it had a thin crust which I adore so much.

Pizza is one of those things you can't really mess up on unless the pizza is doughy or disgusting. I remember seeing this place as I was moving into my new apartment on La Playa thinking 'pizza and Indian? Sounds cool!' I know that I had to try the place out..if not to see if there were good Indian pizza, but also for Brandon Y. who helped me move in. We both wanted to try it since it just sounds awesome. I have yet to try any of the other food, but my friend and I got the Chicken Indian Special Pizza and it was so good. The chicken was nice and tender; onions are amazing too! Mozzarella is really stringy and so good. I really want to try their Indian food since I do need to find my go-to place. It's a bit on the pricey side, but if it's delicious, then it's all good!

We get delivery from this place. Most excellent indian food, and believe me, we've tried a few places around town. Excellent value as well, despite being slightly more expensive than comparable places - but it gets delivered quickly, and tastes great.

Love, love, love the pizza! Why is it that I always forget about GGPizza until I'm not in SF and then my bf orders it without me. Thanks, jerk. I've never had the Indian food here. I did try their pizza sandwich once - definitely a mistake that I do not recommend you to make. But hey, they're not called GG Pizza, Indian Cuisine, and Sandwiches. Their pizza!!! Both the Chicken version (Spinach Curry sauce, Cilantro, Tomatoes, Red Onions & Tandoori Chicken with Mozzarella Cheese) and the Vegetarian version (Spinach Curry sauce, Tomatoes, Red Onions, Cauliflower & Eggplant Bhartha with Mozzarella Cheese) are really good. With a side of samosas and you just can't go wrong. It is a little on the pricey side, but it's worth it. Worth every single bite.

Pizza was delicious (had the vegetarian pizza on the menu). Came in after work hoping to dine in, but their dine in hours was ending and had to take the pizza home. The great Indian pizza smell alone during the drive back home was almost torturous.

I love this place :) they are just a few blocks from my house and they deliver so its nice when im feeling lazy. Their chicken tikka masala is my favorite on their menu, I ask them to make it extra spicy and they never let me down. Their Naan is always fresh and soooooo tasty and their indian pizza is to die for! Every time take someone to this place I get the same reaction "indian food and pizza?!?!" (also because it doesn't look very appealing) but they are always won over by the great service and yummy food. Over all it is a wonderful family owned joint and I would recommend it to anyone.

  • Joanna V.

Golden gate pizza & Indian cuisine is everything you want and expect from a family owned and operated restaurant. The atmosphere was friendly and cozy and the food while the dishes were kept simple they were out of this world. I regret not trying the indian pizza when I was here but both dishes I had were unbelievably tasty. The Lamb Rogan Ghosh had just the right amount of spices and the slow burn was delightful. The garlic nann had just the right about of melted butter and garlic and came out piping hot. It is well worth the 40 minute muni ride out here. I recommend this place to anyone looking for some simple and delicious indian food!

I have to recall the 5-star rating after dining in and getting take out a few more times. Last time I was there in January the service was awful - the waiter was not attentive, kept getting our order messed up and never showed up to give us the bill. After finishing our dessert and wine and sitting there for a while, we walked up to the counter (where the staff was having a gossip pow wow) and had to ask for the bill from them. I've never had their pizza. The indian food is good most of the time, last time the curry was bland and too thin. Their pasta is school cafeteria style - nasty, and only good as a last resort option. Lastly the decor and the atmosphere of the place don't invoke warm fuzzies in me. It looks old and dusty, even the dim lighting is not helping. The glass on the tables has sharp corners and it's easy to scratch yourself on it. It seemed great when I first move here but I'm afraid I am over this place and won't come back on my own will.

  • Misha T.

the indian pizza is sort of weird but it totally works and i would recommend it to folks. the samosas are w/e but not terrible. the fries on the other hand are terrible. they're not crispy or salty which is basically the whole point of fries .

If Naan and Curry's chicken palak and Blondie's conceived a child, it would be what I ate tonight. we ordered the indian chicken pizza from Golden Gate for the first time -- spinach curry base, cheese, diced chicken (looked kinda like BBQ pork from a chinese joint though), some red onion, a hell lot of cilantro, with large slices of tomatoes on top. might sound funny but damn, it hit the spot! price kinda steep at $22 though for a medium, hence the one star off. but it was worth it. so worth it.

We actually had Indian food this time instead of pizza and it was great! Saag panner, baigan bharta, naan, and okra marsala all turned out good. I've only gotten delivery and they were really fast. Online ordering made it really simple. I still have to try their Indian pizza which is suppose to be great.

DAYUM! This was unexpected. I've ordered Indian food from here before (chicken or paneer tikka masala with a side of garlic naan) and I liked it, but last night I was craving a straight-up delicious pizza. Something about the Spicy Chicken Pizza spoke to me. I like blazing hot foods, so the marinated chicken and serrano chili peppers sounded like they wouldn't disappoint. Aaaaand they didn't! First of all, the topping were loaded on. That's a good look. Everything tasted fresh. The chicken was sooo good, it was tender and it had its own flavor instead of just bland chicken on top of a pizza. The crust was perfect for me, not greasy, just thick enough, chewy, and fresh. I ate so much of that damn pizza! Now it's the next morning and describing it is making me want to go warm up another piece. Sigh... I ordered delivery and they were here exactly 30 minutes after I ordered. I don't remember them being that fast back when I used to order from them before. Yep, I'm definitely about to go warm up some more of that pizza.

Went to Golden Gate Pizza during the Out-lands Festival weekend. I was disappointed. The place must have changed ownership or something? Mood was very different than what I remember. It is not the same. My friend and I ordered the Tandoori Chicken Pizza, which is a specialty. But the quality was not the same as I remembered from before. Service was okay, not friendly or welcoming. And, the place was empty. My friend and I were the only patrons there.

Thank you guys for existing! I always order my food extra spicy, and they really do make it spicy. Unlike some places, where if you ask for spicy, you still get bland because they don't think a white girl could handle spicy food. Their naan is wonderful. I just love them and I am so happy they are just around the corner from me. Nice guys work there too. I recommend the chicken vindaloo and chicken curry.

"Indian food and pizza??"... was what I said when I first saw this place. Sounds like an odd combination for a restaurant, but actually they are the BOMB... I usually order the golden gate special pizza which has shrimp and cheese and other random toppings, and it's super, super yummy!! I love the lunch buffet here and always leave with an overly full, pop out, "help me stand up" kinda belly. Their chai tea is made perfectly, and oh my god, don't get me started on the naan... ABSOLUTELY FRESH AND TO DIE FOR!! Their naan is just the perfect amount of crispiness but at the same time the perfect kind of softness... if that makes sense. lol The only reason why I knock down a star is because their regular dinner plates are just too expensive. $11 for tikka masala is a bit much, plus they charge for the chai tea if you go for dinner. So the best value is to go for lunch to get all the chai tea and naan you want for no added costs. The owners are very nice and that's why I keep coming back.

So I've been really lazy and ordering delivery a lot lately. I wasn't sure what I was craving, but I found this restaurant in my pile of take out menus and decided to give it a shot. Ribs, pizza and Indian food. What more could you ask for?! LOL! We got the ribs which were surprisingly good. Cooked to where they were tender and moist. They did put a little too much BBQ sauce on the ribs, but that was an easy fix. We also got the veggie and meat samosas. I didn't care for the veggie one since the potatoes were a little cold and lumpy. But the lamb samosas were yummy! This restaurant does sound like a very odd combo of food, but I thought it was pretty good.

Nom nom nom. This place is REALLY good. Not oily like a lot of Indian carryout. I've had cheaper, but the taste is worth the few extra bucks. And MUST try the Chile Cheese naan. Yum-o. - 1 star because the last 2 times we had it delivered, the delivery guy claimed not to have change (and we're no high rollers, so you know it wasn't a big bill), so he had a fat tip 2x. We're on to him now....

I am a HUGE fan of Golden Gate's indian food. It may seem odd, Indian food from a pizza place, but its surprisingly good. If you are in the mood for indian food and you're not in the mood to drive then call GG Pizza and have delicious Indian food delivered to your door. You have the option to either order online or by phone (if you order online they still call 15 mins later for a confirmation so you're better off just ordering by phone) It's a tad pricey and I think theres a $15 dollar minimum for delivery but you will probably end up spending around 20 to feed 2 people. I've had the chicken tikka masala- creamy and flavorful (you can specify spiciness) The samosas are super tasty but they are a bit greasy The garlic and regular naan are never disappointing. I've never actually dined in so I can't comment about the actual restaurant but if you want tasty indian food in the comfort of your own home then don't hesitate to call GG Pizza!

Indian pizza! Yay America for setting the ground work for something like this to happen. The chicken pizza has taste and texture perfected. The chili cheese naan is tricky. In my mind I was thinking of American chili cheese but NOPE! there are no cows on the menu! What was I thinking?! Silly American girl. This is literally naan stuffed with chilies and cheese.

I know I am not the first and will not be the last to say: ORDER THE INDIAN PIZZA! It sounds like an oddity, but it is one of the most grubalicious meals I have ever had in my entire life. The Indian dishes are also very well-made and the people who run the restaurant are very nice. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Golden Gate is a great go to Indian place that rarely disappoints. The meat dishes are hit or miss and we haven't had their pizza, but their Saag Paneer, Samosas, and Naan is great. We like that they don't mess around when you ask for something cooked spicy. They will make it hot! Overall very good and we plan on trying their pizza. We've only had take take-out, so we can't speak to the restaurant. They have always been pretty fast.

Undoubtedly the best buffet in the city. Unlike all the other Indian/Pakistani restaurants I've been to that leave the naan under a semi-warm lamp on the buffet, Golden Gate Indian Cuisine makes theirs fresh right after you ask for some more (don't worry, it's pretty quick to make!). The mutton was the most impressive dish, and the saag was also amazing (I always love saag though). The gulab jamun was made exactly like my boyfriend's mom makes it (in India!!), at least, so he says. I had to agree that it was the best gulab jamun I'd ever eaten! Update: We tried their Indian Pizza and it wasn't really up to par. *single tear*. They still have a great buffet!

I know I'm not the only one who grabs Redbox movies next door at 7-11 and eyeballs this hole-in-the-wall Indian place. It doesn't exactly have the most attractive storefront, but I gave into my temptation and brought my wife there. As we stepped in expecting to see Mc. Donalds-like seating arrangements, we were both pleasantly surprised at the decor. I was awestruck. Painted walls, clean floor, cloth napkins, fancy glasses, wall sconces, glass top tables with table cloths! Yes! Who would have thunk. This place was clean! Opening up the menu, I was surprised to see this place isn't cheap. But then again, I was surprised twice already: 1st that this place is still around after all this time, 2nd at the bit-more -than-decent and inviting decor. If I'm going to put my money down, I may as well try what a restaurant is known for. Chicken Pizza please! At $20 for their 8-slice medium I couldn't help but to think about the $7.99 Mon-Wed 3-topping large pizza deals around the corner at Dominos. Once the pizza came (in record time of 10 minutes), I was again very surprised at the presentation. It looked good! After one bite, I took another and can say this is a pretty good pizza! It was worth my $20. If you're looking for a place where the waitstaff will leave you alone and not chitchat bs with you, this is the place. You can surprise your date by taking her here. Just don't come here with a suit and tie. At first glance, she'll think she made a mistake agreeing to go out with you, only to be surprised that the inside is actually nice and the food is pretty good! Plus their dedicated parking lot means you won't be wasting time searching the neighborhood to park . The Samosas were big and really needed the sauce. This lamb one was a bit dry. I wish they offered free refills on their Indian Tea, but they don't. The taste has a lot more tea flavor than the wannabe milk tea that Naan and Curry offers for free. The only reason the rating isn't better is b/c of a few harsh people who gave it 1 or 2 stars. I say give it a chance. Enough people like it enough to say good things about it. It's worth a shot.

Golden Gate Pizza and Indian Cuisine was my first introduction to Indian food and I have become obsessed! I have tried a few other places but this one is my favorite, hands down. The buffet is definitely the best deal there. It doesn't have as many options as other Indian buffets but it makes up for it with taste. Sometimes the chicken is dry but overall I am very satisfied. Not only is the Indian food great but their pizzas are delicious as well. Definitely worth trying out.

The food is pretty good. That being said, I would not give my credit card information over their internet ordering system. I have had a lot of fraudulent activity in the last couple of months and this is pretty much the only place that I have ordered anything online with. It's not solid proof, but it does warrant some caution.

WOW WOW WOW WOW! I was very pleasantly surprised when I ate my food. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Chicken Korma and both dishes were absolutely outstanding. The Naan servings were big and there was so much meat in both dishes, which no offense, is unusual for an Indian restaurant. They were creamy, awesome and I had no problem scarfing down my food. This was all after the food was sitting in a bag for almost 30 minutes. I can't say much about the service as I just kind of picked up the food, but the gentlemen that helped me did walk it out to me as I was on the phone outside. The restaurant itself is kind of dingy and the whole Pizza option is kind of confusing, but honestly this is possibly the BEST INDIAN FOOD I HAVE HAD IN SAN FRANCISCO. You can't go for ambiance but if you want to eat gnarly good Indian food at a hole in the wall place - this is your restaurant.

I don't know why it took me so long to write a review for this place. We order for delivery a couple times a month. Although I haven't actually been to the restaurant physically, I've had their food numerous times. And I love it each time I have it. Back when I was still able to have naan, I know I loved every bit of it. We usually have the food delivered, but despite that fact, the food is always still piping hot when we receive it. Therefore, the naan tasted as if it were fresh out of the oven (clay oven). It was a great texture both inside and out. Nice and light inside with a little fluff where it needed it. Crisp bites on the outside but not over cooked at all. It was definitely perfect for dipping into the sauces. It was delicious. We've ordered different items on their menu, including their pizza. I have enjoyed everything thus far - saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, spicy paneer in a yellow curry sauce (I forgot the name), basmati rice, pakora, etc. Everything is so good! They also have a very convenient online ordering system!

Money does not grow on trees for me. Food is one of the luxuries I allow my self to occasionally splurge on. This why ordering from places and getting food like this leaves me fuming. The cream sauce, the curry, both watery. The chicken in the korma was okay, but the watery sauce contained nary a nut and not even that much chicken, unlike the rich photo on the web site. There is a little bit of heat to the food, but not the kind that usually is in Indian food and virtually no flavor. There were no utensils, no plates delivered with this lackluster meal even though I specifically requested some. And yet I tipped the driver too much anyways. I actually feel conned, having spent over $30 on this crap. Never again. Next time I will order from Star India or India Clay Oven. Or I will just get sushi.

Rip off joint: I went in July 9 2010 with my friend in the late evening. Ordered the "signature" indian chicken pizza. The tomatoes couldn't have been cut thinner. There was a thin layer of indian style spinach, like paper thin and what looked like stale onions and old cilantro all over the pizza. The chicken was not breast meat, but was dark meat with small pieces of fat from thighs. After about 5 - 10 minutes the pizza became extremely soggy. All this for over 20$? I would have had better pizza from Dominoes. This place cheaps out and tries to make a huge profit off of a commodity that is limited in stature. I would avoid it. The exterior is not pleasing and the interior isn't either. Next time you make someone an indian pizza guys, don't go cheap on them. $20.00 is a very steep price to ask for what I received. This is a just a rip off joint.

[M]ona: 4 Stars [W]ayne: 4 Stars Average: 4 Stars + Good Service + Open Late + Inexpensive + Accepts Credit Cards [W] So me and Mona were having some late night craving for some food. I was at home doing some homework and here comes Mona texting me that she's hungry and I said the same thing. And Mona with all her persuasive girlfriend goodness convinced me to go out at 10:50pm to grab some Indian food haha. We decided to come here rather than Naan-N-Curry because this place was actually open a little bit later. This restaurant is in a weird location because it's like in a little gutter/alley spot at the 7/11 parking lot on 46th/47th ave and Judah. Dispite a hit and run on my Miata ::Shakes Head:: the experience here was actually pretty good along with the food. The owner of the restaurant was really nice and again the food was really tasty. If you had naan before at other regular Indian spots, normally they're a little bit thicker to dip in the curries. But the naan here was crispy, thin and delicious. Maybe it's because they make pizzas also so the naan was kind of pizza themed. We had the garlic naan yelp.com/biz_photos/-LE_… by recommendation of the owner and it was a good choice because it was DELICIOUS!. We also ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala with Rice yelp.com/biz_photos/-LE_… on the side. I also ordered the Raita (the white yogurt) yelp.com/biz_photos/-LE_… on the side for the rice, which was a must for me. The tikka masala was actually really good as well. The chicken here is not as dry as the one at Naan-N-Curry but Mona would beg to differ. Oh yea, I can't forget the Veggie Samosa yelp.com/biz_photos/-LE_… also. It was definitely interesting because it looked like a big piece of fried Wonton. I think it was a little on the dry side because when I cut it open, all the potato and veggies just fell apart and didn't really stick together. The sauce that they provide was a good dip for the samosa also. It was some sweet and tangy sauce and also some green dipping sauce which was on the tangy side too. Again the food and service was pretty much great here. The owner was really nice to us and helpful with his suggestions on the food. And he was also nice enough to let me know that some dumbass in a red truck hit my car! If you're reading this a-hole you'll see a bat on your face if I find you! haha jk.........Anyways, I think we'll be coming back to try out their $7.99 lunch buffet and see how that is.

I love this place. Was in the City for a study session with classmates and wanted to get something you just can't get in the East Bay: Indian pizza? YES! So purely on this whim and the fact that this place had a decent Yelp rating, we went for it (despite my companions having never had Indian food before, much less Indian pizza). And I'm so glad we did! Ok, so it was decidedly...ODD? But it really worked. Basically was like pizza, but with tandoori chicken on top and naan instead of regular pizza dough. Samosas and mango lassi were also delicious. Give it a try, it might be fun. Though, fair warning, delivery took QUITE a while, so you might want to go in instead.

Everything was good. I was impressed how far they delivered. I'm all the way out near Parkside. I ordered a pizza, and there were not as many toppings as it sounded like there would be on their website. The pizza was soaked in grease in a few spots, and it arrived barely warm. However, it did taste good and it filled me up fast. I am probably going to order again, just for the convenience. Their online ordering systems is archaic but it worked just fine. Remember, $18 minimum order. They take credit/debit cards and you can tip on the receipt. Decent.

Well, considering the state of Great India lately (that would be the state of awful suckiness) and the fact that India Clay Oven isn't very good, I needed a new Indian place. Golden Gate wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. It beats Great India, though, and that's what matters (what happened to you, Great India????). The naan was kind of bland and chewy. It's definitly not worth the extra buck for the garlic naan since that is basically regular naan with some nasty butter-like substance and a couple herbs thrown on. No garlic flavor, and certainly no fresh garlic that I would expect. The samosas were crispy on the ouside, but a little dried out on the inside. The sauce that came with them was a bit watery. The bengan bharta was pretty good, although a little greasier than I would have liked and am used to. And I like that it comes with rice, although it's not the yummy basmati rice that good, authentic places have. What I really liked about this place is that I asked for it mild (not hot) and received it mild (not hot). Often, chefs' versions of "mild" and Amy's version of "mild" are two very different things. Overall, not bad, but not great. Unfortunately, I'm out of options....

Based on looks this is the type of place you avoid like the plague. Indian food and Pizza? I can't comment on the pizza, but the Indian food is pretty good. We tried the Bengang Barta (Egglplant dish) and the Chicken Tikka Masala, rice and regular naan. I thought the eggplant dish was a bit too buttery, but the chicken tikka was great. Overall I'd say a pretty decent Indian restaurant in the Outer Sunset.

I seriously can't believe how amazing the food is. I ordered the chicken korma last night, and it was so tender the meat actually fell apart just by sticking my fork into it. I didn't even have to try to turn the fork sideways to cut it. The sauce was coconutty and creamy. This place consistently out-does itself. I've been to the buffet lots of times. It's small, but outstanding.

Was visiting friends & family for the weekend and wanted to order in. having so many to choose from, we went for something catered to not just one kind of serving but two, or more. GG pizza & indian Cuisine did us justice. We ordered one of the in house Specials, the Golden gate Pizza, it had bell peppers, Onions, pepperoni, shrimps with special flavor of feta. it was sooo good with thin crust the brooklyn style where you can fold it, alll delicious , nomnomnom. I also ordered the Lamb curry, super hot, wow that was rocking my taste buds!!! gonna order more on the menu next time i visit.

A delicious Indian dinner is just a phone call away...at least if you live in the Sunset....not sure how wide their delivery turf is or how quickly they'll get to you outside the 'set. The Saag Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala are excellent, the rice is flavorful. Not so crazy about the Naan and Samosas, but I think they just don't travel well. Can't wait to try the pizza next time my lazy fingers are ordering instead of preparing dinner!

Their menu is a unique variety of foods with a good blend of italian/pizza and typical (from an american standpoint) indian food. They important thing is that they do both well. Their lunch buffet is small but a great value.

Very good pizza. I tried the spicy chicken tonight. It had cilantro on it, which I wouldn't have thought to put on pizza. Yet, it was really good. Something I learned tonight. When they say spicy chicken, they mean spicy. A little less spicy would have been better as it did take a little away from the taste. But overall, it was really good.

Cheap price, cheap food. I don't even think it's worth the $9 buffet. It's just not up to par. Indian food is better than this. And they only serve you one Naan the whole time you're there. Not very buffet-like!

The worst restaurant in San Francisco I have ever visited. bad food, terrible services THE PLACE The place looks so unappealing and dirty! is is too dark, TV showing commercials is too loud. It was lunchtime, but the only visitors (beside us) were couple of flies. Some of them were still alive, others were stuck to a white tape hanging from the ceiling.I am wondering how the kitchen looks. I bet it isn't different from the rest of the area. THE FOOD We ordered cheese pizza and tandoori chicken. Pizza was unbaked. It had a line of darker dough in the middle. Tandoori was terrible. Lots of spices and salt didn't hide the smell and the taste of not-so-fresh meat. One bite and .... I could not eat it. THE SERVICE It was the worse part. I complained to the manager about the food and was told that this is how they serve pizza and meat to everybody. I didn't eat the chicken ( except of the first bite), but was fully charged for it. The manager didn't suggest to replace the meals. He didn't apologize neither. We paid the full price and left hungry.

People laugh when I tell them that my favorite Indian restaurant in San Francisco also makes pizza, burgers, and Italian food, not to mention that amazing San Francisco phenomenon (at least I think it's a SF thing as folks from other cities look at me like I'm on crack when I mention it), the Indian Pizza. Both varieties of Indian pizza are great (they do a vegetarian w/egglant and the more common Tandoori chicken), but I almost always stick to the Indian food. It's just too good NOT to. My personal favorites? Onion kulcha, bengan bharta (curried eggplant), and lamb palak (lamb in a creamy, curried spinach sauce). Everyone I've taken there has been hooked. The service is almost always very good (unless their soap opera's on), and the people are generally very nice. Oh, and don't freak out at the beer prices--the bottles over $5 a bottle are oversized bottles.

Though I have never stepped foot in this place, it is my go-to place for Indian Delivery. It is the repeat spot that a few key friends & I consider the only option when we are craving some good quality, fresh, way-to spicy if I want it that way, indian. I am a Pescatarian (fish eating veggie) so I cannot speak on the meat, but there are plenty of veggie options. The favorites?.. Appetizer - the Veggie Pakora's can be a bit greasy, but never disappoint Main Course - Bengen Bharta, Vegetables Korma, Seafood Vindaloo (spicy please) & Allu Gobi are regulars... The veggie indian pizza is unique & pretty good. It is a bit flibbiddy floppy though. Paneer Tikka Masala isn't on the menu, but is on my order every time. Sides/Desert - They have 9 different Naan variety options, some leavened some unleavened & we have been through most of them.. Onion Kulcha & the Regular Naan are the go-to regulars. And finally there remains the mango lassi. The yogurt based, refreshing, perfect calming breeze to the fire that is...

I like to try out new delivery places whenever I get new flyers. Unfortunately, this place failed to deliver (not in the literal sense). We had the worse pizzas. Two medium pizzas with mushrooms and pepperoni. The toppings were good, but the crust was impenetrable. Just this morning for breakfast, after microwaving a couple of slices, I couldn't even bite through the crust, so I ate the toppings only. My husband will now not trust me with "trying out new pizza places." I also ordered a prawn korma, chicken tikka masala, and an order of basmati rice. It was the most horrible rice from an Indian restaurant I've ever had. Just terrible. Bad rice makes all the dishes bad. That was some crappy rice. I will not order from here again. I'm very disappointed. It was the worst $70 we ever spent on a delivery. Probably the most we ever spent on a delivery, too. If I could, I'd dispute it with my credit card company! =P Lesson learned. I'm sorry, Great India and Giorgio's (where I usually order Indian and pizza from), we strayed once but we won't stray ever again! Ps - my husband said even Domino's, where we ordered from last week, was better.

OOOOOOoo $8 buffet was well worth just eating Chicken Masala. I tried everything else, they were meh, not my cup of tea. There was a dessert, it was like a doughnut hole drenched in syrup, it was interesting. I wanted to try everything, but ended up wasting some.. sorry. The naan was VERY HOT and fresh!! its a pretty quiet place, dark, romantic i guess. Swell service! Good job! Kylie L. helped me eat my money's worth. $20 with tax and tip for the both of us, we were full but still had room for costco samples!

I love this place. The lunch buffet is great. For 7.95 you get naan bread and choice of three vegetarian and even more meat options. The naan is the best I've had. There delivery is fast. Once , when I lived a little closer, it was there in 10 minutes. But even now that I live on the other side of The 'set it never takes more than 30 minutes. The food is great. Saag paneer is my favorite with naan and rice. You got a great meal and it's inexpensive compared to other Indian places. The staff is friendly. They are always nice. One time I was in there and there was a super rude mean stupid (... I can go on..) costumer, and I don't know how the guy was able to keep his cool and be nice to her. The delivery driver is cool , always nice, and friendly. Defiantly the best restaurant in that neighborhood.

Another pretty good Pizza Joint that I've come across in my lifetime. It reminds me of another Indian owned pizza place in the lower avenues of the Sunset, Brother's Pizza. In my early years, I used to go to Brother's alot more but as I grew into my teens and then early adulthood, this is the place I started frequenting more since my then girlfriend, now wife lived a couple blocks aways from there. Can't wait to check it out again soon... I think the fact that the Indian cook's culture has Naan bread in their bloodlines actually may help them in making really good crust for Pizzas. Cheers to that!!!

I love this place! Its quite far from where I live so I don't get to come here as often. The waiters are really nice, they recognize me and my sisters. The food here is delicious. Always been a fan of Indian food. I really like their buffet choices, they always serve a variety of different things. The Naan bread is always fresh and soft. I believe its always freshly baked. The curries are delicious - the spice and flavor are always adjusted accordingly to ones taste. They give you a choice of how spicy you want your dish to be. I always like mine very spicy :) They also serve pizza... an Indian version of pizza. Imagine a pizza with curry sauce instead of tomato sauce; and chicken tikka masala as the topping instead of pepperoni. I found it a tad bit, but it tastes just like naan bread with chicken. I also like how they always pour water everytime they see an empty glass. Not a lot of restaurants do that, most of the time you need to ask yourself. But this place, you could expect your glass to always be filled up. It is a very small restaurant though. And its not exactly the cleanest place either. Those are my only two complaints. Other than that, I do recommend this place for those that want to try out Indian food.

So down with the Indian-style chicken pizza. Pizza with ginger, tandoori chicken, curry, cilantro -- SO down. If I was to criticize anything it would be that the crust isn't entirely fabulous, but whatever. The Plan: Order your take-out at the counter, grab a beverage at Trouble or Java Beach, briefly chat with drunk man standing outside 7/11, return to pick up your order (ready on time), jaunt down to the beach with your food in tow, consume. 'Tis all part of the Sunset district lifestyle.

Let's start off by saying this would have been a 4 star review if their kitchen was a little better at prep. I'm not sure whether they lack a proper prep chef or just have an inexperienced one, but that's the reason some reviews talk about ingredients. Let's start with the Indian Chicken Pizza. First off, the thin tomatoes here aren't a bad thing like one reviewer suggests. If you've ever made pizza before, you'll know that the water content of a tomato is way too high for anything but thin slices, unless you want pizza soup. The cilantro was fresh, the pizza was flavorful, the only major problem was poor prep on the chicken; there were bits of hard connective tissue at the ends of some pieces. All-in-all, enjoyable and worth ordering again. Next, the Meat Samosas. Tasty! Comes with the two traditional sauces, a spicy green sauce and a sweet red sauce. The red sauce was excellent, but the green sauce was overly salty. Overall, a good deal for a couple of fairly generous size, well-spiced samosa. The Garlic Naan. A few scorched spots detracted from what was overall a decent execution. Wouldn't have minded a little more garlic, but overall pretty good. Finally, the Golden Gate Special Bowl (a salad). The prep chef strikes again! First of all, this would have been much better with higher quality ingredients, i.e. green leaf or red leaf varieties over tasteless iceberg lettuce and English ("seedless") cucumbers over thick-skinned, unpeeled garden cucumbers. Second, the prep chef left the hard, nasty butt of the head of lettuce in my salad. YUCK! Finally, the cucumbers weren't the right sort nor prepped properly, so they were bitter and nasty. SUMMARY: The Indian pizza is yummy, the samosas are good, the naan is pretty pedestrian, and STEER CLEAR OF THE SALADS!

This place is funny, I mean, just look at the pictures. Everything about it screams "Turn Away!" while that other more curious, more adventurous side of you says "I've got to see what's inside this place!" Go with that second instinct and give it a try, you might be pleasantly surprised. I came here for a surprise birthday party and shared a bunch of food with about 6 1/2 people. It was all good. They have some interesting things on their menu in addition to standard Indian fare, such a pizza and pasta. The pizza was surprisingly good. The pakoras were average, nan was good, all of our dishes were good, but can't remember which ones we got. Remember, this is way the hell out there in Outer Sunset, so I doubt it ever gets really high traffic.

Just ordered pizza and Indian combination once again. Easy online form, fast delivery. One of those things that puts a great cap on a rainy day. To be clear, you can order American style food (pizza), Indian, or Indian Pizza. The Naan and Indian food are excellent here. The pizza is not as good as New York style but toppings go great on it. I really do like the Indian Pizza (no its not topped with paneer) but would only recommend it to the adventurous!

You know what? This place is fantastic. Indian food is supposed to be flavorful; full of a *variety* of flavors, that is. Not: the Sesame Street version wherein all dishes resemble each other in flavor, differing only as mushes of various colors. Nor is the simplistic touristy version acceptable: this one is spicy, this one isn't. Big whoop. Golden Gate gets this. They've got flavor down, man, and it is gooooood. And that's not all. From the very friendly lady on the phone (who remembers our preferences), to the very tasty & complex flavored Indian fare, to the delicious pizza. The Indian pizzas are good, but strangely, so are the Italian-style pizzas. In fact, even if we're only ordering pizza, we'll often order from here. It's been since living in the East Bay that I've had such flavorful Indian food as this. And that's not from lack of trying! My favorites (as always), are the saag paneer & the dal makhani. I think, in general, a lot of people tend not to order dal because so many places have such boring versions of it. Not here! This one has lots of ginger and cinnamon and who knows what all, but it's darn tasty. Best of all, I can order the rice, the above 2 dishes, and have food for 3 meals. Slurp, slurp, YUM!

Just like everyone has already said, from the outside it does not look like a place you want to visit for a sit down meal. But there is a small space in the back for about 20 people-30 people that is clean and modest. Everyone there was very happy, patient, helpful, and humble. We went to experience their lunch buffet. Seeing as how I love Indian food I was very excited but was extremely disappointed when I saw how many dishes there were -- I'd say four or five dishes. For $7.95 it was not worth it so instead we tried the pizza. We got half vegetarian and half chicken tandoori. It was yum yum tasty. Five stars for the pizza, three stars for the lack of buffet selection.

This review is for the buffet exclusively. I used to go to school in the area and when I went to the beach, a sub 10 dollar Indian buffet is hard to turn down. I went maybe 3 times, and every time is was alright. The woman who works there afternoons kind of has an attitude for some reason, and I've always tried to be polite. The naan is quite good, as is the chicken tandoori. Selection isn't too extensive, chai is rather bland but free if that's your thing, rice was fine for me always unlike another reviewer. If I remember right they have Sierra Nevada for only like 2.99 a bottle. The idea of an Indian pizza is very intriguing to me. I kind of wish they'd put out a pie for the buffet - I don't see why they wouldn't, it'd promote their most unusual, potentially attractive product. Oh, damn, totally edit-worthy note: they have great, great mango chutney, something I usually find bland and don't even bother with. Like super good mango chutney, with sizable chunks of mango in. Yeah, probably the best mango chutney I've ever had... Mango chutney!

Good food, but TV is not conducive to having a "dining out" experience. Also, service is not great --- went in after a group had been there, and spent the entire lunchtime waiting for tables to be cleared, noisy dishes, cooks shouting at each other in front. Recommend ordering out the pizza.

We live nearby but don't eat at the restaurant because it's so unappealing inside. Why don't they fix it up? Anyway, we have ordered delivery many times and usually the indian food is pretty good and every now and then whoever's cooking really hits it. But the other night we ordered the prawn tandoori and the prawns were BAD. As in OFF. As in, took one bite, spit it out and rinsed out my mouth! Eew, it was so gross. I called to let them know not to serve them to anyone else, lest someone die, but the guy on the phone wasn't very concerned. He suggested that next time we call we remind them that they owe us a credit for prawns. As if there's going to be a next time.

Vegetarian Indian Pizza was the bomb, ordered a behgan Bharta and dipped the thin crispy crust in it. You can tell them to hold the cheese to make it a vegan pizza. Also highly recommend the biryanni rice. Never tried their delivery service?? Buffet is ok but not alot of choices if you don't eat dairy.

you people are f.ing crazy thius place smells like dog poop, and the food is awful. I am glad I never had the pizza... the so-called indian crap is over-priced, bland, and horrible.

Chicken makhanwala =best curry I have had in San Francisco. Indian pizza=amazing. Sometimes the chicken in the curries can be a bit dry, which was my experience with the vindaloo. I think it depends on what time of day or what night you go on. Definitely a gem

My latest lunchtime haunt. Eight dollar all you can eat buffet you say? Tasty Chicken Tika and charming waiting staff will keep you coming back. PS - The naan bread is lovely!!

Three words: Chicken Tika Masala! We've traveled hundreds of miles to get the Indian food at this place. Absolutely delicious! Go there now and order... Chicken Tika Masala!

The naan. That's what separates this place from the rest IMO. It's not just the flavor, but it's texture. Texture that can't be replicated anywhere else. Plus its right across the street from me Between that, and Wo's BBQ Pork Chow Mein HK Style... stick a fork in me, I'm done ;) I'm loving my neighborhood more and more each day, now if only they'd build an underground tunnel so that the N-Judah could get me to work downtown faster... wheee!

Golden Gate Pizza & Indian Cuisine is in my neighbourhood, and I've eaten here about a dozen times since moving to the Bay Area 7 months ago. I did try the Indian Pizza once, but have had the lunch buffet every other time. They use high quality ingredients, and it shows. For me, the standout is the chicken tiki masala, which contains only boneless chicken breast (no other cuts) and the sauce is rich and creamy - heavenly! All the other dishes in the lunch buffet are high quality also - great tandoori chicken and creamy, tasty saag, to name just a couple. The complimentary chai tea is rich and flavorful too. The lunch is only $7.95 plus tax and is a fabulous deal. I always walk out of there with a warm, happy feeling in my stomach and a general good sense of well-being that you can only get from eating great food - and all this for just $7.95! I tried the Indian pizza once, but it was not to my liking. The ingredients and cooking were of high quality - it was just not to my personal taste. Like many similar restaurants, I think that the bulk of their business is from delivered orders. The sit down area (which is behind the front waiting area) is tidy and clean and perfectly adequate. I've always been treated well by the staff (who seem to be all family.) One more word about the lunch buffet, as this review primarily focuses on that. When family and extended family of the owners visit the restaurant, they eat the lunch buffet. That's a very good sign. In some restaurants where the buffet isn't so good, you don't see this. A big two thumbs-up to Golden Gate Pizza & Indian Cuisine. If you like Indian food and are looking for a great lunch buffet - this is the one!

The Indian food is amazing! It's spicy and flavorful - if you order it HOT it's actually really spicy! The Chicken Tikka Marsala and the Samosas are great! The location makes it look suspicious - it's tucked into a little corner next to 711 and a laundry mat and it's a little on the expensive side but it's our go to take out Indian place in the Sunset!

So the key here is "takeout." If you've ever taken the N all the way to the beach, I'm sure you've noticed the 7-11, the landromat, and the sketchfest of a pizza/Indian place on the corner of 46th Ave. Not too appealing. But once the curry hits your lips, it is addictive. Nay, it is impossible to stop force-feeding yourself until every morsel is gone, because of the good chance that after this extreme binging session you won't want to eat Indian food ever again, let alone for the next couple of weeks while the leftovers stay good in your fridge. Holy crap. My favorites are the spinach- with potatoes, with paneer- it doesn't really matter what comes inside. Their eggplant is yellow?- and awfully creamy, but there is a undenyable spice that is sensuous to the tastebuds. I also enjoy the mixed veggies- the curry spice is wonderful, and the paneer tikka masala is good too. It's thick and spicy, not like other "cream of tomato soup"-type masalas I've encountered in the past [Cough! Tikka Masala on Haight! Cough!] My curry-phobic ex-roommate loved loved loved the tandoori chicken; it comes with peppers and onions , and admittedly it smelled pretty good. The takeout naan leaves a bit to be desired (a little chewy, not buttery), but the rice never disappoints. It's always hot, fresh, and has an extra spice in there for good measure. Minus one star because I've never dined there... sorry!

Long story short: I lived in San Francisco back in 2008 and would order pizza from this place on a weekly basis on the recommendation of my cousin. Their pizza is incredibly good in a belief-defying way. I'd say it might be the greatest pizza I've ever consumed so far in California. If you live nearby, check it out. I'm sure their pizza is still panty-dropping.

Hands down best Indian delivery/takeout in the Sunset. Despite the name (Indian pizza?) and the unassuming location, the food is really flavorful and delicious. Other Indian in own is flat, but I've never had a bad dish from here. Tikka masala and palak paneer are awesome go-tos. Watch out, if you order spicy, they won't be shy with the heat.

We ordered here with eat24 to our address in the outer mission. It came pretty much on time during the promised 60 minutes and was probably the weirdest order experience we had so far. My husband and I spent an hour arguing about what to order. I wanted Indian, he wanted American. We ended up looking for places that offer both. Something we rarely do, because let's be honest, the food usually isn't good at all. My husband got a burger and fries, I had rice, veggie tikka Marsala and we shared the pakora. Everything was really, really good!! They had great sizes and we paid half the money we would usually spend on Chinese food. The fries were seasoned well and crispy. The curry wasn't too spicy but really tasty and the bag of pakora was huge! They unfortunately don't really describe the items on the menu that well (what's the difference between the burger and the special golden gate burger?) and ignored the request to have avocado and bacon on the burger but I suppose we could've just called instead of ordering with eat24. Definitely my go to Indian spot now!!!

I love GGP's Chicken Tikka Masala pizza! What is Chicken Tikka Masala pizza you ask? Well.. Replace your average pizza's tomato sauce with masala sauce, and add tomato, cilantro, onion and tandoori chicken. And voila! Chicken Tikka Masala pizza. On top of the amazing Indian pizza, they deliver to any place in San Francisco. I live in Mission Bay, which is practically on the opposite side of the city for these folks, yet they never seem to mind. I just make sure to tip well. Also, you can schedule your deliveries which is a huge plus for busy folks. I would recommend delivery vs. dining in, for a variety of reasons. 1. Parking sucks. They do have their own lot, but there are only 3 spaces for this joint while the other spaces are reserved for 7-11 next door. 2. The restaurant itself is kind of sad and desolate. Most of the staff is busy making the food and taking care of deliveries that there isn't much time dedicated to dine-in folks. I came in and 3 of the tables around us hadn't been cleaned up yet. 3. Because nothing beats eating pizza at home with my BFF and Netflix.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon after my friend had recommended this place to me. She said it was pretty good and I trust her opinion so I decided to venture out into the suburbs of SF and try this little joint. I asked ahead of time on the phone if they had any vegan pizza options, and the woman was really confused and had to ask the chef after I clarified by explaining I simply meant without meat or cheese. She said that was fine and they could accommodate that so we headed on over. It was basically empty at lunch hour. Parking: Super easy Food: I ordered the vegetarian indian pizza with no cheese. What made it "Indian" was the curry basil sauce I guess, but other than they the vegetables were pretty standard such as red onion, tomato, and cauliflower, nothing particularly interesting. The crust I think is what disappointed me most. It was super thin, dry and bland, I guess I was thinking it was going to be fluffy naan or something haha I don't know what I was expecting, but the crust did nothing for my tastebuds and left me sad and feeling undercarbed. I love carbs and ate half of the medium pizza and still wanted more! I realize I ordered probably the plainest of all the pizzas especially because there was no meat or cheese, but the crust and sauce still did not impress me. My boyfriend agreed and said it was pretty boring. Probably won't return. Service: They were accommodating but never smiled, waitress gave me weird looks when I said I didn't want cheese on my pizza. Understandable but hey NO JUDGING ALLOWED STAHP. I asked her how big a medium was and she said "sizes are at the top of the menu" where it said the number of slices, but THAT DOESNT TELL YOU HOW BIG A PIZZA IS, JUST HOW MANY PIECES YOU GET HOKAY. Then I heard the other table ask, and she explained to them the size and how many people it would probably feed. What. The. Eff. That's all I wanted to know! Ima make my own Indian Pizza k thanks bye.

Man oh man, my boyfriend and I kept talking about going to this place because it's a block from his house. He loves Indian food, "but what the heck is Indian pizza?" After months of debating whether it would be worth it to go, we finally found ourselves seated in the comfortable, nicely decorated back room. We ordered Pakora, and after some (not actually that much) debate, ordered the Chicken Indian Pizza. The pakora was a nice serving size. Definitely worth the money. Good flavor. Could have been a tiny bit more crunch, but super delicious and worth the money. The pizza blew us away. Neither of us could have imagined that "Indian pizza" could be so good. The meshing of flavors of the spinach sauce with the rest of the pizza was amazing. We commented to each other that this would be a great way to introduce someone to the flavors of Indian food if they'd never had it before but liked pizza a lot, because the Indian flavors were extremely present, and fit right in. I'm not sure if Indian pizza is a thing that exists anywhere else, so, for now, if you're looking for a big meal after a long walk on the beach, it's a pretty good option. Medium Indian pizza was $18ish. Good for three people with an appetizer or two hungry teenagers.

It sounds like a weird combo pizza and Indian but the food was so good. We ordered the chicken Korma and it was amazing!! the regular chicken curry was alright but for a dollar more definetly get the Korma.

I have yet to actually try the Indian food at this place! I hope I am saving the best for last! I can say that you will find the best value for the dollar you spend here. Burgers are cheep and pizza is actually very well done. I judged this place so hard at first, it's rough around the edges located next to a laundromat and 7-11. It may not be the best crust, or that $25 for a small artisanal style San Francisco pepperoni all organic pizza; you won't find that here. It's fast food/utility pizza at its best to be honest. That's a good thing if you couldn't tell. Not fancy. Just a simple product from someone who knew what they were doing and didn't screw it up. It's pizza that you can order early and late (11am to 11pm) AND have it delivered! So really, there's no negative about this little pizza joint if you are having a food crisis. When your tastes bud need that pizza pie goodness and you want a good deal be sure to give this a try at lease once.

If I ever crave for indian pizza, this place will be it. There was a little "zing". Ordered the Vegetarian Indian Pizza and it was delicious. It doesn't look like the picture, but it tasted good. I called in order for pick up at 6:10 p.m. and sure enough, it was ready! It so helps that they have free parking so I can pick up really conveniently.

I now give an extra star to Indian places that deliver. Delivery is cool. Allow me to clarify, delivery is of utmost necessity when there's playoff hoops (or NFL football or a Giants game or new episode of Game of Thrones . . . ) either that or when I'm feeling particularly extra lazy and really don't feel like driving to get food. You get what I'm saying. The tikka masala can be a bit heavy on the cream (which is a good or bad thing depending on your mood). The naan, garlic naan, onion kulcha, and veggie dishes are consistently good. And overall, the food is pretty solid. As for their Indian pizza, it's fine, it's good, . . . ok, so I don't really get it but give me a side of tikka masala to either drizzle on top of or to dip the pizza in and we got a winner. Golden Gate Indian may not be the best Indian food I've had but there can be no denying how super satisfying the food can be.

Ordered a large Chicken Tikka Marsala Pizza online. Pros: Delivery on time Fresh ingredients light thin crust Cons: Lacking in flavor. The Marsala was average, nothing spectacular. I prefer my tikka marsala spicy If you like spicy Indian pizza I highly recommend Tasty Subs and Pizza down in Santa Clara. Well worth the drive for some outstanding Indian pizza.

Not the nicest looking restaurant (the place could use some upgrades) but their Indian pizza was really good. They have a dining room in back with table seating. Up front is the pizza counter and baking area. We had the chicken tikka masala pizza. It was very unique and flavorful, and most importantly, yummy. I'll be back to order again. They have other Indian pizza flavors but the chicken tikka masala is the most popular. Other Indian food and standard pizza flavors are served too.

If I could give them no stars I would. When we were seated I could see ants or roaches crawling on the floor. Disgusting! Unless you like that with your dinner.

My review is for the Indian food. Two thumbs up! I see a lot of people order take out, but they have a nice clean dinning area. My husband and I always come and sit and eat. The dinning area usually has only one or two parties if even that, so there I always room. Chili cheese naan is amazing, chicken korma is flavorful, and the palak paneer is fresh and full of spices. I've never had a bad experience here. Highly recommend this place!!!

I'm very excited about indian cuisine, and enjoy rich deep spicy flavors. But when I tried their signature tikka masala pizza fusion a few years ago, I did not like it. Very bland by my standards. Because of that, and the presence of italian dishes etc. on the menu, I never took them seriously in the indian food category, no matter what the rating. This week I caved, and gave them another try. I skipped right past their fusion selections and ticked up the spicy selections for their traditional dishes. This time I was very satisfied. Fast delivery in spite of miles distance to our home. Generous portions in all things, including their raita. Aromatics and depth of flavor that satisfied my cravings. There might be a couple other indian restaurants in SF that have satisfied me better, such as Shalamar (a pakistani location) and Alhamra (a dive in Mission district with a real Indian grandma in charge of the recipes, and even more generous portions of meat.) but Golden Gate offers a huge menu to satisfy all, and supports a WIDE delivery range. I'm still not interested in the mild flavored tikka masala pizza (probably made to satisfy average american tastes), but can affirm that these guys can satisfy the traditional indian cuisine craving when called upon. I'm now a convert.

  • Kathryn E.

Taking fusion cuisine to a whole new level... CHICKEN TIKA MASALA PIZZA! That's it. Get it. Soooooo good!!! Otherwise, for straight up pizza, theirs is so-so, I won't order it again. For straight Indian food, it is subpar. I don't know how they do it, but the two combined are great even though the two separately are marginal... For an Indian pizza creation that will make your tastebuds sing and beg you to overeat, it is a win! 4 stars for the Chicken Tikka Masala pizza ONLY. 1 star for the rest.

The most delicious indian food. We love that we can order a pizza for the kids and order indian food for us. We keep trying other places but always say this is much better. The indian pizza is amazing. Our favorites are Saag Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Lamb Curry. The best thing is it comes piping hot and quick. Easy ordering online or by phone...try it, you won't be disappointed.

Looking for places around this area always yields tons of good places. However I was lured in by the great reviews of their chicken tikka masala pizza..... and I was blown away by the great taste. The place looks a bit sketchy but the food makes up for it. They also have a nice selection of Indian beer.

This is the best Indian food that I have ever had-no joke. I have tried so many different restaurants both fancy and cheap, but this place outweighs all of them. This place is a 2 minute drive from my house, but I would drive hours to eat their food, it's that good. The service is also very friendly, and everything is so reasonably priced. My favorites are the Bengen Barta, tandoori chicken, naan, shrimp vindaloo, veggie samosas, chicken tikka masala, and galob jamon. I really like that their naan is soft, chewy and moist. Other places have naan that is dry and bland, whereas here all of their dishes are packed with flavor. Everything here is just so good and reasonably portioned. I love this place!!! I haven't actually tried their all you can eat buffet, but I'm sure it's good too. I usually just order off the menu. But I have tried their pizza in the past and it's delicious. I mainly come here for the Indian food though.

If you're looking for 2-3 day old lamb skewers (Sheekh Kebab), reheated multiple times topped with rotten limes then apparently this is the place to get them. What a shame for all Indian restaurants out there. This place should be embarrassed to sell this. I'm not sure if I should it compost it for fear of killing plants or burn it for fear of destroying the Ozone layer.

Had the buffet and it soooo hit the spot. And at a good price! tika masala, lamb curry?, couple veggie currieish dishes rice and fresh cooked nan. Then head over to trouble for a mocha and cinnamon toast for desert. What a way to start your day off right.

WTF happened to this place? I just ordered a chicken dish and it's awful!! The chicken is frozen, store bought chewy and bouncy strips, the rice is hard and undercooked. The chicken had always been tender white chunks. I've ordered here consistently for a year and it looks like that is going to stop. Hope they read this and respond to me. If they do I'll update my review. Disappointed.

This is a two sided review. the food was great, but the service was super shitty. we ordered through grub hub, which had never disappointed, and has always been quite accurate in predicting delivery time. they even update if it's early/late. so 30 minutes after the late end of the delivery window, we still had no food. i called to check and the lady reminded me it was friday night. yeah, that's why they estimated over an hour! not 1.5 hours! anyway, she blamed the delivery guy, but strangely enough, our food came nice and hot, so...... overall, i don't think i'd order from here again because we have had plenty of good experiences with delivery and even similar places (Zante is great!).

Here's the scoop: upon moving to SF, I LOVED this place. The Indian pizza, the idea of it, it itself, was amazing. I loved it and I came back several times for it because it WAS that good! That being said, something went wrong with the restaurant. The past few times I've went, they've burnt the dough, they didn't use enough sauce, the chicken topping was dry... needless to say, I was bummed. Yet, I kept coming back hoping it was just a bad fluke... sigh.. what happened? ]= HOWEVER, that is just their indian pizza. Their regular menu items are still delicious! Hit up their lunch buffet (although I still prefer India Clay Oven or Curry Village). My favorite: their Kabuli Naan! (naan made with coconut, cherries, & dried fruit). SO BOMB!

Don't waste your time. I placed an order online 20 minutes ago and I had to call to confirm the order because the protocol is to call them if they don't call you to confirm. From that point I was told it would be ready 25 minutes from now. I would expect a wait time like that if I was having it delivered but I was picking it up. Piss Poor customer service!! Ill go next door to the 7-11 and have a pizza in 3 minutes.

Fives starts by comparison with other pizza delivery places in the area. Even for pizza, it is better than a couple of the Italian named or American names places. It has enough cheese and toppings. One suggestion is it is too salty.

I have ordered from this place many many times. Their vegetarian indian pizza is outstanding and (as far as I know) unique. You should order one right now. Protip: extra sauce, extra crispy (the extra sauce can make it a little soggy if you don't go extra crispy). Whenever I order from them they are polite, professional, and efficient... I think that is my favorite way to be treated by another human that is taking an order from me over the phone. Of course if you order at a busy time of day it will take a little longer to get your pizza - that said, they usually get it to me well within the time they advise (45 minutes, ok? ok. actual time: 30 minutes.) I should say that I always tip and I only live 8 blocks away. Other things I have ordered and enjoyed: chicken tika pizza, bhengan bharta, naan, etc. Enjoy. *also the price is totally reasonable. There are a couple of pizza places with comparable prices that are much worse, and there are a couple pizza places with higher prices that are not any better really imo. thanks for reading order a vegetarian indian pizza and enjoy. I don't work for them or benefit from this review I just want them to succeed and stay in business so I can keep getting my pizzas. ;)

I did not think Chicken Tikka Masala could be any tastier, but OMG, who ever decided to combine it and pizza is a genius. Get the Chicken Tikka Masala pizza. The crust could be baked a little longer, but aside from that , you won't be sorry!

I would give this no stars if I could. I ordered from grub hub on a Friday evening and I expected delivery to take an hour to an hour and a half however, it took three hours to get our food! My husband called several times to check on the order the lady kept assuring him that it would be there shortly. The food itself was okay. Shortly after eating my husband who has an iron stomach got sick. I too succumbed to getting sick and spent two days being violently ill. Avoid this place like the plague they have terrible customer service and their food does terrible things as well...

Good food but so damn overpriced I dunno why you would get the Indian food. I got 7 bites of lamb for 12$ (lamb tikka masala) I know in Indian cuisine there isn't as much focus put into the protein but God damn I didn't give you 12$ for a snack in some soup

Ordered take out on a Monday night. Was greeted by the owner and staff. Everyone was very friendly. They've been around for 18 years! Upon entering the restaurant, everything smelled "right" to me! I ordered chicken tikka masala, aloo gobi, rice, and garlic nan. The flavors were great - albeit I was a bit drunk and hungry - and the spiciness was perfect for me. I do wish they had given me some chutney for my nan. But I guess maybe that's extra. In any case, I'm so glad to live near a good Indian place now and I will definitely return soon and often.

Eh. Pizza was pretty good, fried chicken and French fries weren't edible, instead of chili cheese naan that I ordered, they gave me a regular naan that was burnt and bland. I'm really in compete disbelief at how bad those fried chicken and fries were. It may be the worst fried chicken I have ever had. Definitely worse than ghetto KFC. Maybe it's because I ordered half hour before closing. I'll give them one more chance.

Do not go there. Worse indian food ever I ordered 3 dishes, chicken tandoori, one hot, one non spicy and a chicken tika,ot go There was no mark on the packages.I had to taste which tandoori is spicy in front of our guests. The tandoori was too salty and the spicy one was just rubbed with some chili pepper. It looks like the chicken was grilled and neglectfully rubbed with spices once cooked. The tika was the worse. It was breast, as had as bricks. I felt that I was eating a dish mad of lego bricks One star for the food. MINUS 500 stars for the HUMAN HAIR found in both dishes, Hot Tandoori and Tika.

Diver threw curry all over my front steps. There was a mix up with where it was to be sent and they sent it to my address on account rather than where I clearly told them with an added "not 46th ave!" To be extra clear! Sent it to my house and roommates accepted assuming I ordered while on my way home. I called when my food was still not here and hour and a half later and they resent it to the address I was currently at. Driver was pretty upset saying what my roommates accepted came from his pocket. Raised his voice a bit but we brushed it off. He then returned to my house and yelled at my roommates for signing for my card. They returned the untouched food and apologized. When they closed the door he covered my front steps in curry and naan. I then called the company explaining I ordered about 4 times a week and I was pretty upset. They then proceeded to yell at me and my roommate who went into the establishment. Pretty pissed I lost a place a frequent quiet a bit and that I have given so much money to those ass holes. So it took 2 hours, $30, getting yelled at, roommates getting yelled at, AND curry steps to get my food.

Best pizza and best Indian food ... How do they do it? Combine the two and you get the best chicken tikka masala pizza ever! Their crust is amazing, their naan is amazing... I'm in love with golden gate pizza

Lamb curry and rice. $14, ordered online, walked down and picked it up. Lamb had a bit of tenderness too it and the curry sauce was good. Rice is rice, but it wasn't bad rice, which is good. Portions of both were good comparative to the price.

The food here is really good. We came here because all other places had a waiting list. It ended up being a pleasant surprise. I shared an Indian chicken pizza with someone else, and it was honestly delicious! I will come back if I'm in the area!

I'm sad to say that the quality of food has really gone down here. We used to order delivery often but haven't for about a year. We tried out our old regulars today and were sorely disappointed. We had the vegetarian Indian pizza which used to wow me but this time around it was extremely bland and doused in way too much cheese. We also had the Seekh Kabab which was by far the worst I've eve had, no exaggeration! They too were flavorless, rock hard, and ridiculously dried out with definite freezer burn. Seeing the variety and quantity of menu options I wouldn't be surprised if much of the food sits in a freezer for months on end. I'm honestly disappointed I wasted my money on my meal. I hope the owners decide to change something but in the meantime I won't be back.

Following a recommendation of a friend, I ordered Indian Chicken pizza. I debated with Chicken tikka masala, but decided to go with this for tomato. Oh my god, this is good. The portion is super generous. Ridiculous amount of meat. And the whole thing is just amazing. 10/10 will go back and order again. The online delivery is a little crappy. You should call them after 10 minutes to confirm the order. It's not as smooth as other places, but it is worth every second of it.

Delivery came fast on a Sunday afternoon from Grubhub. Must get the veggia or meat samosa. The Indian pizza was unique and delicious! Try it with Ranch or Alfredo sauce on top at home.

I had a very bad experience with this restaurant, which is unfortunate because I actually enjoy the food. I ordered a pizza, and was told it would take 45-60 minutes to get my food to be delivered. An hour and a half later, I called asking where my pizza was, and was told the driver was out for delivery. another 15 minutes later, I call again and ask to speak to the manager. Again I was told the pizza was out for delivery. I told the manager that the pizza being an hour late was not acceptable to me, and that "we are busy tonight" is not an excuse if I am told it will take 45 minutes to an hour. Upon saying this, the manager literally chuckled at me, and she was absolutely and completely not useful at all, and simply didnt care about me, and has no concept of customer service. I will absolutely not be ordering from this establishment again, because getting any pizza as late as we did without any sort of reconciliation is absurd... and then to be laughed at. Bye Golden gate Indian.

This review is about their naan. Called in for an order of 15 naans at 4pm, told the lady over the phone I wanted them for 6pm. They had them ready at 6- 1 star They were hot and cut into pieces-1 star Problem is it wasn't really naan they were way too thick and they tasted like they were frozen and just heated. (Consensus amongst most of us who ate the naan) I would rather drive further for fresh, authentic naan AND cheaper too!

  • Sarah B.

The saag paneer was SO SALTY, it was inedible. It tasted like someone spilled a saltshaker into it. It was so bad I truly think it was an accident and they sent it out anyway. In addition there were only like three cubes of cheese, the naan was flat and greasy, and it was expensive. No thanks.

This is my neighborhood go-to spot for Indian food. Delivery and pick-up are always fast and fresh and the staff always smiles and are personable. I highly recommend the vegetable pakora and chicken korma medium. It's also open 7 days a week until 11.

It's been a while since I've had Indian food. Found this place because parking isn't that hard to find here. Food: We got tikka masala and another curry based dish. Meat was dry and kinda tough. Sauce was good. Biryani a little Al dente to me. Garlic naan good Pratha not what I imagined or have tried before. Mango shake too sweet Service is decent. I'd come back to try their Indian pizza. But as for indian food, I'd go somewhere else.

Have been eating here for years. I recently moved across town and have ordered delivery from 3 different places in the area and none of them even have come close. Today we had to drive across the city just to go there and it was like heaven in my mouth. I will never go anywhere again. Everything tastes perfect. Oh and their pizza is darn good too.

They delivered our food more than an hour and a half after we ordered it, and the woman I spoke to hung up on me when I asked her when the food would be delivered. Also, the food was greasy and cold by the time it got to our house.

    (1)
  • George B.

People who were seated after I was were served before me. The rice was cold. The mango chutney came straight out of the refrigerator. The curry wasn't even warm - it was tepid. I have NEVER been served lukewarm curry in either a Pakistani or Indian restaurant. - curries should be served piping hot. As much as I love curries, I will never go back to this place again...

  • Vayne K.

Love this place. 2nd time here, food is exquisite albeit a bit expensive compared to other places. Big fan of the tikka masala, and this spot let's you decide how spicy you would like your dishes which is a huge plus. Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants quality and delicious Indian food in the Sunset. Edit: Well they happened to make a mistake when preparing our dishes, and it was not nearly as spicy as we asked. It wouldn't be a problem but the manager gave us a bit of attitude for approaching them to ask about the spice levels. Waitress was very kind however, and wish I brought more cash to be able to tip.

*growls in an annoyed tone* I'm a nice cheetah, I don't like leaving stories of bad times, I really don't, but I'm also honest, and I must be honest here. I am talking about the delivery experience me and some friends had the other day. We ordered some delivery pizza and indian food which actually came in a timely manner. Yay, this cat hadn't eaten all day so some pizza is gonna hit the spot. Send room mate down to get the food, and the delivery driver won't give it to him? we think the delivery guy could have been a bit racist? But oh well, everyone is to a sense. But anyways, we bring the food up, and start devouring our prey. Suddenly, two of our group noticed a strange sensation in their mouths. Turns out, something in the pizza had cut both of them! One on the lip and the other on the tongue! Maybe a random happening? I suddenly bite into something very hard in my slice of pizza. If you haven't figured it out yet. There was glass in the pizza. I REPEAT, THERE WAS GLASS IN OUR PIZZA. We called for a refund to which the restaurant said they would have to come out and inspect before they would issue a refund. Inspect? We ate most of the pizza until we found that stuff... *grumble* The manager came by and was actually very nice, but they would not give a refund which is pretty lame if you ask me. Look, I may be a predator who can eat many things, but glass is not one of them. And if people in our group got legit cut by this food? Refunding our money should be the least of their worries. Maybe a freak accident, but still, this was not a fun experience. I am leaving two stars though, and this is because for what we did eat (without being cut by) the flavor of the pizza was actually quite good and tasted very fresh. If this issue hadn't happened, it would of actually been pretty ok. Some more careful quality control, and remembering that in any business, the concept of "the customer is always right" and their satisfaction should come first are things that this place could use more of. Best wishes to them. *chirp*

Honestly speaking, this place is some kind of a joke!! I ordered pizza and samosas. To tell the truth, I never had such tasteless samosas stinking with rotten oil (the samosas smelt of fish - may be they use the same old oil) May be this place might be good for people trying Indian food for the first time. Uh a big no!! I'm sick to my stomach!! The food was cold, tasteless and sickening!!

    (1)

I always order take out from Grub Hub from here and t never disappoints me. I order the samosas and depending on my mood I either get the Lamb Curry or the Chicken Makhanwala and of course naan! This is my go to whenever I'm craving Indian food :)

My roommates and I used to like this place for a last minute take out until one fateful night. Around 9:30 pm on a Thursday night there was a knock on our door. It was a man delivering Indian food which I had not ordered. I told him that we didn't order the food. As it turns out my roommate who wasn't home had ordered it and I signed in a confused state because the driver told me to. Only a few minutes later there was another knock. It was the delivery man and the owner. The owner was very rude and demanded that we paid for the food because my absent roommate had ordered the food to be delivered to a different location, not to her current address. We tried to explain that it wasn't our food and that gg-pizza had messed up the delivery as best we could but the owner wouldn't let us speak. I gave them the untouched food and said goodnight to them shut the door. That's when I heard a loud smack on our door. I knew right away what had happened. I opened the door to find exploded smelly Indian food all over my door and even my neighbors door! I was livid and marched right down there to let them know who they were messing with. I told the owner that I need to speak with him and he didn't even acknowledge my presence. I grew very angry and rightfully so. I told them what he did was very unprofessional and demanded he cleans up the mess he made. He did all he could to speak over me but majority of the angry discussion was between me and his sweet wife. She was level headed and very apologetic. However it wasn't her fault and she shouldn't have to apologize for her hot headed husband. I'm still very angry about this altercation. Who wants to hose off their stoop at 10 at night? They've lost some very good customers. SIDE NOTE: the establishment is disgustingly dirty and unkept.

Food- This was one of the better restaurants I came across in the Golden Gate Park area. I tried only the Indian food, not the pizza or sandwiches which they offer as well,so this review is only for what I had. The food was all fresh, evenly spiced and cooked properly. I enjoyed the chicken vindaloo and the chili and cheese naan was something I hadn't had before. They also offer a weekday lunch buffet. Prices- They are more than what I pay back home in New England, but for the area this was one of the better deals I ran into. Service- This should be improved on. The staff was nice, but with myself and only one other couple in the restaurant, they rarely checked on either table and I twice had to get up just to make it known I needed more water. The check came and I had to chase the waitress down to be able to pay and leave. Atmosphere- It's pretty bare and dark inside, definitely not the best location inside the small plaza they are at. I felt like was eating at Alcatraz. It's a good place for some good Indian eats on Judah, for a good price, but nothing in the way of good service or atmosphere, just so you know going in.

Ordered delivery today via their online menu. After I called to confirm the order, they gave me an estimate of 45 minutes and lo and behold, the delivery guy arrived in exactly 45 minutes and was really nice. The chicken Indian pizza was amazeballs. Nice crust and flavor, without being too heavy and greasy. The meat (lamb) samosas and vegetarian (potato and peas) samosas were also crispy and delicious. They came with a tamarind sauce and mint chutney. Not too big of a fan of the mint but the tamarind sauce was good with both the samosas and the pizza crust. Can't wait to try more stuff from here. EDIT Tried dining in and having their lunch buffet. Selection is quite lacking... I'll stick to ordering pizza by delivery from here.

Never have I dined inside the establishment. (Do the steps outside count? Samosas + stoop = tasty times.) Typically I get food from here delivered, because after work around 8pm I get extremely lazy. That said, their delivery service is excellent. The deliciousness is brought to my door quicksmart; they have never failed me. Furthermore, I admit that I have been "that guy," -- you know, that guy who orders delivery 20 minutes before they close. I AM SO SORRY. But your food is terrific. Not once have they said "No, it's too late," or given me the stink eye when they arrive at my door. I have always experienced lovely customer service. I hereby promise I'll pull that one less often, but their acceptance of a late order just goes to show what kind of business they are. I haven't actually tried their pizza, but the other dishes I have had suggest that it's probably great! Some things to try: -Chana Masala -Saag Paneer -Samosas -The basmati rice is very good -They have lots of other random things like BBQ Chicken, ribs, french fries, cheeseburgers, all of which have been top notch yum. In fact, oh my gosh it's 8:13 on a Monday, and I am awaiting another delivery as we speak. Trying their daal this time around; can't wait to tuck into some daal and naan in front of Game of Thrones. Yeaaah.

I've been coming to this restaurant for years, and I've been eating Indian/Pakistani for over 15 years. I hit the buffet a couple times a week and often order delivery in addition to that. The buffet is small, but it's very tasty. Over the years, I have frequented MANY of the Indian restaurants all over SF, and I can tell you that this one actually has quality food. It is never watery or bland. Rice has cinnamon and spices, curries are thick. I've had better Indian food in my lifetime--but I don't have the money to fly to Australia every time I want it. For $10-$11, the buffet is a great, quality lunch. I've been reading a lot of reviews about this place, and there are the occasional "I found a bug in my food," and, "I found glass in my food," and "the driver threw curry on my door." I totally believe these people, and I am not here to argue with anyone's experience. But for the hundreds of times I've ordered delivery or eaten the buffet, I can tell you I have never experienced anything like that. And I think those are pretty good odds. Now--I saw a RAT running above the stoves at Naan N Curry 5 years ago. That was so sickening to me that I have not been back since.

DELICIOUS INDIAN PIZZA - 5 stars! the cilantro and the tomatoes on this pizza were super fresh, the spinach sauce was so flavorful and awesome. the cheese was light and a little fluffy, very good quality mozz. the crust was thin, slightly crispy and not burnt. it may have been one of the most awesome pizza's i ever had in my life unfortunately i woke up the next day having diarrhea and fevers. and i had work too. likely never coming back, which is really a shame! i am still craving that pizza!

So far we have tried lamb biryani, lamb curry, lamb korma, chicken tikka masala, samosas, garlic and plain naan, chicken tikka masala pizza, cheese pizza! Everything was gooooood!! I always call in my order since I only live a couple of blocks away, 1 phone call and 20 minutes wait time - I'm picking up my order and enjoying the food. I haven't dined in yet, and have not had food delivered because the restaurant is so close to me...but I'm so glad this is in my neighborhood. Whenever we're craving Indian it's so easy to order...

So glad to have found a super restaurant already since we just moved to the area. My expectations were exceeded and I'm now a fan. Normally I can't do Indian food (embarrassing personal reasons) but I've had the Tikka Masala pizza a few times now with no issue. I wouldn't claim it's because I'm just an Indian food novice because my more experienced friends love it, too. I also super loved their fries and calamari so I know if you're not in the mood for pizza, try anything else from the menu. The 5 star super point: Online ordering and I swear they have always had our food ready exactly on time for pickup. Thank you, Golden Gate Pizza & Indian Cuisine!

This place is kind of a joke. In my experience Indian and Pizza places are usually good at one of the two but sell the other to attract more folks. My girlfriend and I ordered through Grubhub because our other pizza place wasn't taking orders... It had good reviews, mostly, so we took a chance. First off they make you have a $25 minimum on delivery which is kind of silly because we got an extra large pizza with 3 toppings and that wasn't enough... So i added pakora... nope. Then I added fries... And since I was 35 cents short, I had to add something else. I love Indian pickles so I just added them on... Needless to say, we ordered way more than we could eat and or wanted. It would have been fine but the food was 15 mins late and when it arrived all of the food was completely cold. We complained, as the food was barely edible and not that good to begin with... It seems really processed and low quality. The owner tried to give us a $2 refund for it being cold. HAHHAHAHAH... I couldn't believe it... Anyway, I called her directly and told her that I thought we should probably pay half because we couldn't really even eat half the food. She argued with me for a while but eventually agreed... She told me she would refund my money. And I waited for over a week and realized that they never refunded anything. I contacted Grubhub and they totally straightened it out but the strange thing was is that the delivery guy came to my house again!!!!! He was very strange and kept demanding that I tell him if the house was right. He was yelling at me. And I told him, no, I did not and would not order this again. He had the same receipt from last week and had all the items.... hahaha, I should have just taken the food because he thought it was paid for but I told him the truth and he stood there in the cold, making me miss the end of the Warriors game while he figured out his mistake... It was very silly and a little annoying... But I just realized how amateur this place is. They are trying to be too much and are failing at everything. I will definitely never come here again with all the time, effort, and hassle I have received from them and I recommend you do the same. Seniore's Pizza on 19th is a million times better.

My oh my, this was one of the first places that I ever Yelped back when I was an online reviewing neophyte, and now that I'm a reviewing whore, I have finally returned after nearly four years to see very little has changed. In this case, that's a good thing because despite its unwieldy, cross-cultural title, it still manages to produce terrific Indian dishes and a satisfying pizza with all the trimmings and toppings you'd want - including tandoori chicken and spinach curry sauce. Jamie W. and I returned after sauntering through Golden Gate Park last Sunday. He really wanted pizza, and I was feeling like Indian. Voila!...we could have both without compromising. We entered their small space in the 7-11 strip mall and walked into the dark room in the back where they have their dining room. They still do a bonanza pizza take-out business, the restaurant not so much. It's always been pretty quiet back there, and except for a crying baby at another table, it was pretty much the same. The waitress was the same, very serene and this time, very pregnant. Jamie went for the large Golden Gate Deluxe Pizza for $20.25, which was your basic kitchen sink combination with liberal amounts of sausage, salami, mushrooms, pepperoni, onions & bell peppers (see photo). Of course, I took a slice or two. It was definitely on par with the pizza at the Sausage Factory in the Castro. Hearty stuff that hits the spot. I ordered the $10.25 Chicken Tikka Masala in which they bathe chunks of barbecue chicken in an almost-cream-like sauce filled with herbs and spices (see photo). It went well with one of my favorites, the $8.95 Bhindi Masala, chopped okra sauteed with onions and spices (see photo). It was as tasty as I remembered it. Laugh all you want at the name of the place. I wouldn't come all the way across town for something mediocre. It really has to give my palate an erection if you should pardon the expression. Golden Gate Pizza & Indian Cuisine doesn't get me quite that stimulated, but it is well worth the long trek on the N-Judah. FOOD - 4 stars...still as good as I remembered, definitely not an ill-conceived border clash AMBIANCE - 3 stars...it is dark back there SERVICE - 3.5 stars...very quiet, and the food appears to take longer to serve these days TOTAL - 4 stars...still a winning combination of flavors

One of those lazy nights again. Didn't feel like cooking or leaving the house. Grubhub.com never fails. I've tried Indian pizza before at a friend's party and it was yummy. Here's what I ordered: Samosa Mango chutni Garlic naan Chicken biryani (mild) Chicken Indian pizza Everything was delish. I didn't care for the dipping sauces that came with the Samosas. My only complain is our pizza arrived with most of the toppings to one side and onto the box. Our house is about a mile away from the restaurant with no major hills so I can't seem to figure out how our pizza was all a mess when we got it. Unless the driver didn't care for the pizza to set it flat. Anyways that won't keep me from ordering from them again. Note to driver: Please lay our pizza flat next time. THANKS! :)

So this review is for the Indian part of the place. I finally sat down and ate in the restaurant. We ordered the following: Chilli cheese Naan- I was imagining Chilli like American Chilli, I was so wrong it was just a spice, and I really didn't taste any cheese. Chicken Pakora- This was like Chicken nuggets on crack. It's deep fried moist chicken bites, real meaty and spicy and good! Chicken Tikke Masala - real good not too spicy Chicken Curry- Looked kinda gross and some pieces looked Gelatin like, my friend ate it, he is Indian and said it was gross. I didn't dare try it. Vegetable Samosa- Real good, I get these with Pizza all the time. Must have it with the red sweet sauce and green sauce. Prices for the Indian food is kinda pricey! $10 for Tandori Chicken? wow. I think I will come try the buffet lunch one day.

I wish a million stars was an option, so I can rate them that. I had been wanting pizza for a month before my roommate decided to order from these guys. Italian and indian food is such a strange concept, but boy do they know how to make it work. We decided to create our own pizza to satisfy our tastebuds. Hands down the best pizza I've ever had. It left me wanting to try everything their menu offers. It's devastating how high they've set the bar for other pizza places. (Better step up your game other pizza place losers) Moral of the story? Don't judge a book by its cover guys. Try their food it's spectacular. All hale king of indian food and pizza. You guys deserve an award.

Dinner in the restaurant portion is a lesson in how to ignore customers. Their Indian cooking is really excellent. All the flavors stand out, each dish shines. It is a shame that their attitude is so poor. The manager or owner will walk through from time to time and look at you, but seems incapable of a simple smile or a greeting. The two servers are the same. Everything is done in the restaurant seating area as if customers are an interference with the takeout business. There are only a few tables and dine in never saw more than three of them in use while we were there. This was our third visit. When we arrived at near six PM, the lights were still off in the seating area. Near the end of our stay, a family of two adults and two very small children came in and took the next table. The server came in long enough to drop off menus and water. Eventually, the father got up from the table with menu in hand and went to the front to find someone to serve them. Like many Indian restaurants, the wait is long while the food is prepared and then, all of it arrives at once. This is okay, but then, the almost total absence of a server is curious as both of them are only a few feet away, but out of sight. Getting the bill and then getting it paid is also a challenge. I would like to see them get their act together for people dining in because the food is really very good.

Worst Indian food I have ever had. The naan tasted like stale bread. And everything else tasted legit like ass. If anything make your food like five bucks. I already didn't have high expectations from a pizza AND Indian joint but what the hell man. You should stick to pizza.

While on vacation, I talked up Outerlands Cafe left and right...and then we tried to go on a Monday when they were closed. Luckily, Golden Gate Pizza/Indian was open. It's such a pleasant surprise when a spot as unassuming as GGP delivers such delicious food. The service was minimal, but attentive, which was nice. I hate being bugged or interrupted during eating/conversation by the wait staff. The Indian pizza blew my mind. I have literally dreamt of flying back to SF just to get more of it. If you're ever in the area, do yourself a favor and try this place. You won't regret it.

You and me - Golden Gate Pizza - it's over. I'm done. I used to anxiously wait for your pizza delivery guy to arrive bearing a sweet pie of vegetarian Indian deliciousness. But last night I realized that there's no point in holding out for something - when the person on the other end just doesn't care. I've always been a firm believer that if someone puts love and care into their food - that you can taste it. My pizza last night was loveless. In fact - I could only stomach one slice. That slice has to be doused in red chile peppers, habanero pepper sauce, and mango chutney - and it still tasted bland. When placing my order, I asked the guy on the phone if he could make the pie spicy. He said no problem. Not only was that pizza far from spicy - it just didn't have any taste. None. You couldn't even taste the lack-luster vegetables on it - and the crust was lifeless and bleh. After taking a bite of that pizza I called back to inquire about my initial spicy request and they gave a brief apology and said that next time I order they'll make sure to make it spicy. I paid over 30 dollars for a pie that I will not end up eating. That's not cool Golden Gate Pizza and I know that next time I order - my pizza will be just as loveless. I'd much rather save those calories for something that makes me swoon. I'd much rather save my anxious pizza waiting dance for something with a little love in it. Good bye Golden Gate Pizza. Trust.

$8 for weekday lunch buffet Came with Kim W. since we've been wanting to come here since...FOREVER. It was really empty, only a few people came in while we were there. It's not really a hot spot, I guess...so residential/near the beach/next to 7-11 kind of place. There wasn't a lot of stuff, I sort of expected more. There was tea (I prefer Naan n Curry's tea), rice, various curry, naan, dessert...we each had 3 plates, I had a little bit of everything. Chicken tikka masala is normally not spicy, but this place had some spice in it. Naan isn't at the buffet area, the guy at the front brings it out to you. I was full but not the kind of full I'm usually like when I eat at buffets. I can't see myself coming back anytime soon. Good deal for lunch though.

Where do I start.... I tried this place twice in the past couple of weeks, the first time because the ratings looked pretty good, and the second time because I wanted to give them a second chance because, well... the ratings looked pretty good and maybe they were just "off their game" the first time I ordered with them. Now I have two data points and I won't order from them again. First off, the food is just not that good. Both times I ordered different things, and both times I was completely underwhelmed with what was delivered. The Samosas were particularly disappointing. Secondly, the delivery was late both times. The second time I ordered, it was over an hour past when they said they would deliver, and the food was cold by the time I got it. One positive note: the good people at GrubHub were nice enough to provide us with a coupon to use in the future to make up for our bad experience.

I order the chicken tikki masala, vegetable samosas, French fries, garlic naan and Tea. I've never had the pizza. I see no point in trying the pizza when I think of them as Indian/Pakistani spot. Sometimes the samosas are a bit salty. Other than that I highly recommend for the price.

This place has good food but they are way overpriced. I ordered the 10.95 chicken tikka masala. And got 5 tiny pieces of chicken in it. This is the second time this has happened with a delivery order so no more. Sadness.

I've been coming here for over 10 years and the food has been consistent since day 1. The meatball sandwich has been my favorite item for a long time. The pizza actually has an interesting taste.

Had the samosas and chai tea as a snack, both were really good. The samosas were fresh made as I waited. Recommended!

Gopago deal. the garlic naan was yummy. the onion one was okay. the tikka masala? i think we got was DELICIOUS! we also ordered a vegetarian one...it was good, but not my taste. but overall! surprisingly yummy and no tummy ache

So, this place is bomb. I can only speak for delivery-- I have had the TIKKA MASALA PIZZA and INDIAN PIZZA, both of which rarely fail to exceeded expectations. There was this one time.....but there are, of course, always those "one times" at any restaurant one frequents. Their online ordering (via website) facilitates avoiding human interaction (except the actual delivery, duh) and eliminates errors They DELIVER ALMOST ANYWHERE! I have only ordered from my old casa in Bernal Heights and my current place the (very) Inner Richmond but, seeing as their location is basically Ocean Beach-front property and they deliver 4+ miles away, I surmise just about anywhere is fair game. A few minor frustrations: -their stated delivery minimum, $18.00, refers to the subtotal. The convenience fee ($1.00) and sales tax are not included, so the minimum is actually $20.00. -you can't order rice on the website! Or, if you can, I have spent the last 20+ times missing it.....although they do call you and ask if you want some with your order, but that also means the true total of your order is increased without you knowing by how much. Besides that, I highly recommend this place. Trumps Zante's for sure.

We ordered a bunch of food from here so here's my opinion on these dishes... Vegetarian Indian Pizza, with Regular Sauce. Awesome...very good flavor and the crust is cooked perfectly. Definitely the best thing we ate. Samosas...uh...so-so at best. Bengen Bharta, Medium Hot...was good. Would order again. Saag Paneer, Medium Hot...not bad. Would also order again, but after exploring menu further. Dal Makhani, Mild. Very Good. Worth getting everytime. Chicken Tikka Masala (medium hot) wasn't as good as the Makhanwala. It was too tomato sauce (from a can) based. Wouldn't get this again. Medium was a too mild. Chicken Makhanwala, Medium Hot. Great! Not the best I've had...but definitely the best plate (better than tikka masala). Lamb Curry (Very Hot) was in fact very hot. I wish these guys had a NORMAL hot. My mouth is on fire and it's still burning in my stomach. This curry is very good...would get it again. Basmati Rice. Average cheap rice The Medium Spice wasn't spicy at all. Don't think it had any heat...so if you want heat...go hot. Will order from here again...but not without getting an Indian Pizza

Pizza & Indian cuisine? I was intrigued. Ordered food online and had it delivered. 2 orders of Meat Samosas. ($3.35/order. 2 pieces/order) ( yelp.com/biz_photos/-LE_… ) The shell was crispy and crunchy with ground lamb and green peas inside. The lamb had a delicious spiciness to it, but it crumbled and fell out of the shell easily. Didn't like the dipping sauces. Too hot and too tangy. Masked the flavor of the lamb. Chicken Tikka Masala. A bit upset with this because it was $10.95 for a tiny container with few pieces of chicken. Tasted good but definitely not worth the price. Chicken Indian Pizza. ($19.95 med) ( yelp.com/biz_photos/-LE_… ) Special spinach curry sauce, fresh ginger, fresh cilantro, fresh tomatoes, red onions & Tandoori chicken with mozzarella cheese. Had to order this to see what its about. Boy, I was disappointed! 1. Couldn't taste the curry sauce, ginger and cilantro. 2. My mom asked if there's cha xiu (BBQ pork) in there. It was the Tandoori chicken. But it did looked and tasted like cha xiu since it was cut up into tiny pieces. 3. Dry! My sis and I ended up slathering tikka masala all over our slices to make it more moist and tasty. So the pizza became an overpriced piece of naan. Doubtful I will order the pizza again. But I am curious about their chili cheese naan. Haha!

I can't speak for the pizza but just from having the buffet alone, I just have to say it completely sucked. The selection is small, they were out of coffee and the one dish in the buffet with meat took 30 minutes for them to refill and when they did it was mostly sauce.

My friends and I visited this place after a day of walking around the city. One of my friends had rave reviews for it. So, we had to visit it. I am a sucker for Indian pizza. It is really hard to get wrong, and in is, in my opinion, the best Indian fusion food out there. Golden Gate did not disappoint. The restaurant is pretty dark, with minimal lighting and no windows in the dining area. The ovens, just like in many pizzerias are open and easy to see. We had some fun watching our pizzas being made. The food was delicious. Of course it's e healthy and isn't really "authentic" in any way, but who cares? If you like Indian food and pizza, eat here!

Wow!!! The last two times Golden Gate Indian has hit it out of the park! Last night we got the usual chicken tikka masala and allu bengen with basmati rice and naan. The tikka was plate licking. The allu bengen had a fresh gravy or sauce to it flecked with bright green cilantro big chunks of potato and big pieces of soft but firm enough not to be instant mush eggplant. My other favorites are the chicken makhanwala and a lot of the veggie dishes like bengen barta, allu gobi, and the okra dish.

SO much love. Depending on how many people there are / how many meals we want, there's a few things I always love getting: lamb biryani, vegetables korma, Kabli naan [cherry-coconut], and an Indian pizza [veg or chicken, both are really tasty], and a 'regular' meaty pizza, especially if we have out of town guests who aren't sure how they'll feel about the Indian stuff. I might take off half a star for the expense, but the joyfully dancing taste buds are worth it. ;p Occasionally there's been enough grease that you get that, "OMG I ate too much fatty food" feeling, but I'm pretty sure that may also be related to having more than a couple pieces of the pizza.

I've ordered a few more times and the previous mishap has been corrected. The pizzas are consistent and delivery is quite quick. We often get the food in less than 30 minutes.

grubhub'd delivery was kay lamb boti was so horrible. waaay salty, way sweet, dry dry dry, wrapped in aluminum foil (poke it and risk leaking everywhere). I tasted a piece and threw the rest away. chicken curry - not expected at all. it wasn't very good. I fished out the chicken pieces. saag paneer was the best of the 3. wish there were more cheese pieces. still, a little subpar argh. wish I went hungry instead, wasted $40 :/

We must have come in here about a half hour before closing or so - we swung in on a whim, and we were pretty surprised it was even open! We got a to-go order and it was ready in about 20 minutes. Chicken Tikka Masala - my go-to - along with a couple of other dishes and garlic naan. We couldn't eat it until we got home a half hour later, but it was still so super delicious. Dunno for sure if they deliver to our neck of the woods, but we might have to find out!

PEACHES CHRIST IS THIS PIZZA GOOD!!! I think the reason why people give this place a bad name is because it looks dirty and small from the outside, but sometimes if you wanna find the best place to eat, you actually go to the restuarant that looks and seems less appetizing. This is by far the best pizza i have ever had. I've been all over the world and never had pizza as good as this. Thier pizzas are freakin' amazing, and i cant stop obsessing over it! They're a bit pricey, but its all worth it! their vegetarian ones are great but the ones with chicken or steak on it are the GREATEST! I dont eat chicken but it certainly adds pizazz and an extra delicious taste! I HIGHLY recommend this restuarant. There are also other delicious items on the menu, and the mango sweetend lassis are extremely tasty. INDIAN PIZZA FOR LIFE

I can only speak for delivery here. I used to live near SFSU and when I saw their menu on my door I laughed "Italian and Indian food!? Really?" I couldn't see how it could be decent. But not only were they good, I became a regular! I ordered their Indian food at least once a week. Actually I kinda wish they delivered to my new hood. I only had the pasta and pizza a few times. It was about par with my home made stuff which I am okay with, but when I order pizza or pasta I really want it to surpass what I can do. In a pinch it hit the spot.

Indian pizza anyone? =P I was at home with the boyfriend and out of nowhere I had a craving for Indian food, I remembered my friend telling me about a good restaurant for Indian food around Judah. So, I went on yelp and found this place and found out that this place delivers!! SCORE!! We ordered the Indian pizza and 45 minutes later it arrived. The pizza was really good, you could taste the curry on the pizza which was the best part of the whole thing. The price for a small pizza is around $18, not too bad when it's just being shared by two people. Their mango smoothie are really good, tasted pretty fresh. The next time I order from this place I'm going to try other things on their menu because the past 3 times that I ordered delivery, I ordered Indian pizza. =X

This place is one of those hole-in-the-wall/most amazing food places. You would hardly know it exists! But it is absolutely to DIE FOR. Their Indian food is delicious! They have the best Chicken Tikka Masala, Samosas, and Bengen Bharta. Everyone must try. Beats all other Indian Food Restaurants.

I ordered a vegetarian indian pizza and a chicken tikka masala pizza for to go on a Sunday afternoon. It was around $38 for them both and took 20 minutes. They smelled amazing but I thought they tasted just okay. I don't know if it was just me but I didn't feel well afterwards. Perhaps it was because I had 2 slices of each pizza? Anyways the pizza is fine. I wouldn't say it was exceptional but I think I would rather stick to the traditional Italian pizza's... The Indian food is alright too.

The Indian pizza here is unlike anything I've ever had before. It is sooo incredibly delicious. The perfect compromise when you can't decide between Indian food or pizza. I no longer live in SF and still dream about the pizza there. I have never found another place that even attempts an Indian pizza so this really is one-of-a-kind awesomeness..

Who would have thought there'd be a sweet Indian place hidden next to a 7-11 in an Outer Sunset parking lot by the beach? I'm also a sucker for family-run restaurants, and when I picked up my to-go order yesterday, there was Mom, Pop, and their two little girls. Squee! Decent pricing and very solid portion-sizes compared to a lot of Indian joints in SF. I've had their chicken tikka masala (I guess it's impossible to screw this up, but their take on it is a good balance of creamy and tomato-ey, with hefty chunks o' chicken) and lamb vindaloo. The veggie pakoras were also really tasty. Naan here is less bready than other places, but that just means more crisp crackeriness for those of you who like that. I love the rice here with all the spices (cloves all up in your face). Haven't tried their pizza, but I definitely want to hit up their lunch buffet and leave with someone wedging me out the door. Oh, and they do deliver, but you have to order $18 minimum o' food. Love that they close late too (11:30 pm).

After I returned from the UK and tried "authentic" Indian food, I had an insatiable craving for curry and tikka masala that I could not shake. After weeks of missing the food across the pond, I decided to take a chance with Golden Gate. (You have to commend me for my bravery for trying a place that has both "Indian" and "Pizza" in its name) Turns out, the food is really, really GOOD! We got the chicken tikka masala for 11 bucks, which was enough for 2 of us. It came with hot naan and it was spiced just right. I didn't get a chance to see what any of the pizza or pasta looked like, but I grabbed a menu because apparently their delivery is "FAST and FREE!" What else is pretty cool is their variety of foods. If you come in here you're bound to like at least a DOZEN thing on their 100 item menu. From looking down their menu, they have teriyaki, hamburgers, beer & wine, calzones, INDIAN pizza, salads, and both Indian and American desserts. WOW. That's impressive. Just short of 5 stars! Go try this place!

I had the lunch buffet. The buffet choices are not that wide, but everything ranged from excellent to decent. You can also have as many cups of Chai tea as you like. The place is not upscale, but the people there are friendly and made efforts which provide a good eating experience with family and friends.

Honestly, from the outside, the place looks like a dump. GGP is right next to a laundromat and a 711, where tons of bums hangout. It wreaks of urine and feces. I was driving around one night , looking for Indian food. I usually venture off to other indian restaurants in the city, but it was getting late, and I wanted some tikka masala. Parking is bad. You may have to find street parking two blocks away. Food was not bad at all. The tikka masala was off the hook. it wasnt too spicy, and the garlic naan was pretty good. The saag paneer was good, too. It's best to order take out. If you decide to dine in, you will see that it's a bit dirty, and the co-ed bathroom is full of graffiti marks with urine all over the floor (711 bathroom is cleaner). Other than that, try the food. it's decent price and it's yummy for your tummy.

I came here a few years back and was highly impressed by this place, but "time changes, along with everything." WARNING :: This review is Rated R. Parental Guidance Advisory. So, contemplating between chicken curry and prawn curry, the waitress recommended the prawn curry, and I ordered Naan with it. My girls ordered the chicken curry and the other ordered lasagna (or lasagne, as they spelled it). First, I understand that the economy is tough and recession is at its finest, but really?! Do you have to remove EVERY unused paper and silverware setting from the table?! I mean, when you go out and eat with your girls, you would always chat it up with them, but there is only so much you can talk about, especially while your stomach is growling at you. 45 minutes later (and I'm NOT even exaggerating), our food arrives. The prawn curry was bland luke warm. My girl's lasagne[a] looked like a tomato, meat, and noodle soup, drenched with oil. Anyone with a right mind knows that lasagna has LAYERS. This did not. Please look at the picture attached and TELL ME it does not look like soup. Finally, I felt like tipping was over rated because they should've paid us to sit there for 1 1/2 hour to wait for disgusting food. Along with that, they did not say "thank you" or anything as we WALKED UP TO THE REGISTER TO PAY. I will NEVER. EVER. EVER. EVER. be back, nor do I recommend this place to any one or any animal.

It seems that many people really enjoy this place. However, it was not to my liking. They add cashews to their rice, so many cashews that you can't pick them out easily. This is an issue bc of the allergy factor for me. The rice was NOT described as having cashews. And somehow the rice smelled like pizza. Also, their lassis only tasted like plain yogurt, which i can do myself.

Yum. Totally craveable. Lots of toppings. A little greasy but not so much that you got a stomach ache afterwards. Have only tried Veggie Indian Pizza here. Usually I am skeptical of places that offer more than one kind of cusine (indian & american food) but this place did not dissappoint. Looking forward to the leftovers. Good find!

I lived in Fremont for over 2 years and absolutely loved indian pizza from Pizza and Curry ( yelp.com/biz/pizza-and-c… ). I have been wanting to find something here in the city that can satisfy my craving. I had high expectations for this place because of the 4 star yelp reviews. I ordered the pizzas by phone for delivery on a thursday night around 8:10. I was disappointed when I discovered that I couldn't order a pizza with half indian and half regular, so i was forced to order two medium pizzas instead of one extra large. I was also sad that they only had 2 choices for the indian pizza specials. I ended up ordering the chicken indian pizza and darling delight. The pizza arrived in less than 45 minutes, which was the estimated time they had given me over the phone. The total came out to $44, including tip. The pizzas were still hot when I opened the box, and the smell was mouth-watering. The chicken indian pizza was just OK. It didn't taste as flavorful as I wanted it to be. The darling delight was delicious but I couldn't see or taste the feta cheese that was written in the description. The thing that would make me order this pizza again was the crust. It was perfectly thin and cooked just right. Next time I order from here, I will try the rest of their menu.

A wide variety of options, and all of them spectacular. As I explain to everyone I meet: "this restaurant is awesome. It's got Indian food, it's got pizza, and it's got Indian pizza!" This diversity makes it great for mixed groups who might not like either of the above. The vegetables korma is outstanding, and the all-you-can-eat buffet has hurt me more than any other restaurant's, but in a good way.

The first time I went here was several years ago while visiting a friend, and I had no clue I'd ever be living here. I was both amused and entertained by the fact that it was both pizza and Indian food -- I did purchase some garlic and cilantro "stuffed" naan as I was bored and hungry, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not knowing the tendency of SF eateries to have seemingly incongruent cuisines (Chinese food and donuts, anyone?), I was a bit sketchy about trying their pizza. A few years, moves, and donuts from Chinese places later, I was in the mood for pizza last night as I hadn't had any in awhile. The boyfriend, for various reasons, couldn't do pizza that night and wanted Indian food. We knew this place was good for Indian food since we've had delivery from there before, but we hadn't tried anything else -- the clincher was the intriguing Indian Chicken pizza so I went for it. The Lamb Vindaloo was excellent as usual, though I still personally prefer the Chicken Tikka Masala from here. The Indian Chicken pizza wasn't bad as far as pizza goes -- I wish the spinach curry sauce they put on the pizza in lieu of tomato was spicier and there were larger chunks of tandoori chicken, but I can't really complain since it's not like you can get this kind of pizza just anywhere. The french fries could have been left in the fryer a bit longer and dusted with at least a little bit of salt, but they were still hot when we got them so the salt we added stuck to them pretty well. Whatever concerns I had about their pizza are gone now, and I'm bummed I forgot to bring some to work with me. Delivery was a little slow last night, but it's usually very quick and always friendly...all in all, one of my favorite Indian places in the city, and definitely my favorite Indian place that delivers.

My friends used to live half a block away from here, and introduced me (and at least 30 others) to G-Gate. You can mention their names to describe how spicy you want the food ("I want it spicy, but not Raj-and-Anj spicy."). The Indian food is fine, as is the pizza, but my favorite thing on the menu is the Indian pizza. I know, I know, Zante this, Zante that. Whatever. Judged on its own merit, I think G-Gate does a great job.

amazing. delicious. little pricey. worth it! chicken tikka masala, samosas, lamb briyani, naan, poori, chicken jalfrezi. (around 50 bucks) each dish had incredible full flavor, spice, tender pieces of meat. and the tikka masala was oooh so creamy. we had been cooking and catering for the past two weeks. looking for something to eat that we haven't seen lately. indian food! this place is close by, decided to try and WOW. definitely coming back and finishing up the leftovers today!

Mmmm. Whenever I'm sick and my tastebuds are incapable of tasting subtle flavors, my Indian half kicks in and I crave spicy food. Having been disappointed in my past experiences with delivery Indian in the Sunset, and seeing the positive reviews here, I figured I'd give it a try. It was the best of both worlds, if it were bad, I probably wouldn't be able to taste just how bad, and if it were spicy enough I could finally taste some food with spice. Wow, it was great! Nice and spicy but still other flavors came through as well. I got the chicken tikka masala, spicy, the dal makhani, and a paratha. All of which I'd happily order again.

I used to live in the neighborhood, and I really miss having the Indian pizza from this place. You can have Indian food from anywhere, but an Indian pizza? That's like having sex with 2 hot babes at the same time! anyway, quite good. just a little background: that location changed hands a number of times. that was like the Bermuda Triangle of pizza businesses until Golden Gate Pizza opened. Their staying power should tell you something.

Open until 11:30pm and free (you should definitely tip though) delivery! Last night we ordered from here. When i got the flyer on my door and it said "Indian/Italian Cuisine" it made me curious. So we called our order in and in no time the very nice delivery guy showed up. Seriously, he was the nicest delivery guy yet. We ordered the vegetable samosas and i can't say i was all that impressed. They weren't bad but they weren't super great either, kind of bland. But hold on a minute cause the Vegetable Korma made up for it. It was sooo yummy. They have a very large menu but i'm pretty sure i'll be sticking to the Indian cuisine. Maybe one day I'll try the Italian part if someone writes a great review about a dish:) update: Don't order the calamari unless you like bowling alley food -yuck- it was super fried, like the kind of fried where you can tell they probably don't change out the oil very much. But the vegetable korma still rocks! Saag Paneer is great too.

The chicken tikka masala is so delicious here! Their indian food is absolutely delicious. As for the pizza, i would have to say, pass. There are a lot of really good pizza places in the area so if that's what you want, you should look somewhere else but the indian food is awesome. get into it.

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU ORDER HERE!!!! I ordered here around 9:30PM. My order was an on line order. Around 10:15PM I decided to call to make sure my order was on its a way and a very rude lady answered the phone stating that she had my on line order and hung up. About 11:30PM no one had delivered the pizza. I decided to call again and the same lady answered the phone and said that there were no more orders on delivery and that the kitchen was closed. I told her I had called about an hour ago and she said that it wasn't them and that she didn't have my order. I let her know that she was the one that answered the phone and she insisted on arguing with me and letting me know there was nothing she could do. I asked for the manager and she said he was not there. Pretty lame business that loses their customers orders and pretends to not have it just because they dint want to cook it.

I saw the menu on my doorknob and grabbed it. I love schizophrenic menus. Indian food + pizza + teriyaki chicken+ hot wings, what the fuck? In my quest to order from every Indian place that will deliver, I called them. HOLY SHIT!! It was here in 20 min., my chicken tikka masala was hot and tasted miles away better than most of the other places I've ordered from. The garlic naan was moist and hot and delicious. I also got a random salad. It was chilled with lots of toppings and dressing. Absolutely fan-freakin'-tastic!! The only reason i didn't give it 5stars is sometimes you have to eat AT the restaurant to get the full picture. I fully recommend anyone wanting Indian food in the area, DO IT.

This is not the best Indian food I've had, but it's very good. I use them for delivery very often. They are *really* fast. I mean, they've never taken over 30 minutes to deliver the food. And I live like a 10 minute drive from their restaurant. If you want Indian delivered, this is your place.

Oh dear, what have we here? A restaurant with yummy Indian cuisine that delivers beer and a delicious meal? I ordered the Tiki Marsala, Naan bread, and a beer. I was a bit skeptical when I placed this order online, assuming that they wouldn't be able to deliver me beer. But sure enough, the 20 oz Taj Mahal beer was nessled next to my dinner! My only quasi complaint would be that the Naan bread lacked certain flavors. The Tiki Marsala was extra creamy, chicken was moist, the rice had little black things in it which added so much flavor(guessing it was cinnamon sticks?)

You might be saying, "Indian food? At a place that begins with 'Golden Gate Pizza'?" Yep. I used to live somewhat close and ate here every 2 weeks or so for about 5 years. Now I drive up from the Peninsula to eat here once in a blue moon. Yes, folks- it's that good. I have tried other Indian restaurants since. I tried to find comparable Indian on the Peninsula. Sadly there is nothing that I have found that compares to this place. Once you eat here then other Indian restaurants will be ruined for you for probably forever. I always order chicken makhanwala, saag paneer and garlic naan. I've ordered tons of other items on the menu and I've never been disappointed. If you want to try it out then they have a new lunch buffet for $7.95 and you can taste a little of everything. If you love good Indian food then eat here. Period.

UNSANITARY! I've seen in this restaurant the cashier coughing into his hand and handling food without washing. The cook also handles samosas with hands rather than with a skewer. Cooked samosas are placed near the bottom of a food cart where staff walk by in their shoes. The entire staff need to take proper food handling and sanitation training.

This place is amazing. The Naan and the Chicken curry beats "Naan n Curry."

I am not sure if I am a fan because it is a block from my house and fills the craving I have for Indian food, or because its just good Indian food. The specialty, "Indian Pizza", is worth having (basically chicken dish on pizza with cheese, perfect). I can tell you why I don't love it, the service isn't friendly or attentive. I have been there 3 times and each time, the service sucks. The family is mostly interested in watching TV. I haven't seen anyone else in there eating when I go, and its probably do to the aforementioned.

Not the greatest Indian food and not the greatest pizza. It works if you have a group of people who can't decide between the two. The pizza and pasta have some interesting Indian spices, but not enough for me to be a fan. We go here if we have to get an Indian food fix but are not feeling to picky.

This place has the best Curry!!!! I'm a loyal customer. I moved to Hawaii and still make sure I drive 45 min from the Bay Area to get this curry! The naan is great too!!... Def try this place.. 2 thumbs up!

Wow. I mean... Really... Wow. That was pure genius. I just got back from dinner here and I am just floored. I just got the best Indian meal I have had in this city for $16. Follow the other Yelper's advice (as I did), and run with the samosas (use the reddish sauce - it is fantastic!) and the saag paneer. The Saag was just to die for. I could not stop eating it - its was just way too good. Sit in the back at the tables - there wasn't anyone there when I went by and I got great and friendly service. Just... Wow...

I tried the meat samosas (crispy turnover stuffed with minced lamb) was really good. I liked the chili sauce( i think) and another sweet bbq-like sauce that came with it. I also order the lamb palak. It didn't look good, in fact it looked kinda nasty, excuse me, but kinda look like a bad case of diarrhea. But the taste wasn't too bad. Didn't like the rice pudding, it was just too watery. But it's nice how it's open till 11:30 pm everyday. Ordering for to go or take advantage of their free delivery serve instead of dine-in. It hot in there and just not too cozy for dine-in.

ok yeah it's a weird place. they are nestled into a lot with a laundromat and a 7/11...they are a combination pizza/indian food restaurant i ordered rice and dal and a raita with some naan while my manfriend ordered a pizza and the okra the indian food was nice, clean and well prepared...and i've always wanted to say this... "ive been to india so i know these things" HA and the pizza? i had the vegetarian indian special pizza. might be one of the best things i've ever put in my mouth

Lived by this place all my life and absolutely love it for so many different reasons. Locations is awesome because it is right near the 7-11, so if swinging by for a slice of pizza or picking up an order of Lamb Vindaloo, beer or soda is 3 steps away. Lets begin on why I really enjoy having "Indian Pizza" within waling distance. 1. It is Indian food AND pizza. A seemingly bizarre marriage that shouldn't be, but feels (and taste) so right. Where else can you get an order of lamb korma and pesto chicken and sun-dried tomato pizza at the same time and place? 2. The Indian Food. Simply the best in the Sunset. Forget Naan and Curry and their mass produced tikka masala that comes by the gallon. The Indian food here is authentic, tasty, and the portions are great. No lamb dishes with nothing by bone and sauce here. A vast variety of different dishes ranging from meat to vegetarian. 3. The pizza. Nice doughy crust that is cooked perfectly and very quickly. Amazing selection of house specials like their Indian pizza. The best thing about their pizza is the slices that you can pickup. Standard cheese slices awaiting any topping you like...the ever popular peperoni, anchovy, to amazing ones that other places don't have like baby clams (delicious mind you) and ground beef (hella good). 4. Interactive online menu and ordering. Awesome. 5. Steps outside that you can sit down on and eat your slice. Yes, that is why I love this place. The Buffet is decent. Decent selection of food, but I've had better. However, this does not reflect the food that they have on the menu. So much better. What are you waiting for, go get a slice from "Indian Pizza"!

Who the hell knew we had this little gem tucked away? In any event now that I've found it I'm thrilled. So far everything I've had from them from the chana masala to the Hawaiian pizza has been great. Their Indian food never lacks for flavor and the don't skimp on pizza toppings. Great place if you get like me and want everything for dinner b/c you can have it all here in one stop. The actual restaurant isn't that great though so I always get delivery.

In the sunset there are many options for pizza, and fro me this is by far the best out in the avenues. When you order delivery it comes fast and is pretty darn hot. I have yet to try there buffet but ive heard good things. and the prices are great.

Yummy, yummy, yummy! One of the only reasons I miss living out in no-man's land a few blocks away. This is the most amazing veggie korma I've found anywhere. It's almost worth the 20 minute trip on the N Judah it would take to get me there. Luckily they deliver, so that won't be an issue. It looks very bizarre on the outside, but try it and you won't be disappointed.

Think they might be getting lax on the buffet lately - last 2 times the lamb was cold and gross and had bones in it. What happened!

  • Susan C.

What a great find in the outer Sunset! You'd never know from the outside location that such a quaint place with nice decor and wonderful food would exist inside. The menu was extensive - many choices and we chose plenty. Everything was delicious and I ordered a full meal to take home. Service was great and friendly - with smiles and courtesy, sometimes rare these days! While we were there, many deliveries went out so you can also stay at home and have wonderful meals delivered. Try it and I'll bet you'll like it. They also have pizza and calzones, regular or with that great Indian flavor and flare!

When you feel like Indian food and your dumb friend feels like pizza, what should you do? I know guilt your friend into eating Indian food and have them bitch about it the whole night. But for those wusses who like to split the difference , Golden gate is the place for you. I got vindaloo , samosas and spicy chicken pizza. I am not a big pizza fan but this was out of the world. Who would of thunk of putting cilantro on pizza is genius. Vindaloo rocked. The samosa were nothing to write your mama about.

  • Mike M.

I actually really like this place. The looks of it are a little run down but the Indian food is exceptional. It's kinda weird though how you can get fried chicken, pizza, and Indian food at the same place. The only thing that bugs me is that I always walk out of there smelling stinky.

    (4)
  • azure a.

worst indian buffet i have ever experienced. tandori chicken was cold, dry and hard. tikki masala was runny, watery and tasteless. rice was hard and undercooked. i'm not sure what was up with the naan, i think they cook it in the pizza oven instead of the tandori oven, either way, it was weird. the chai however was fabulous. skip it. waste of money, time and stomach space. there is way better indian to be had.

Really Really good Indian food! (and random pizza if that's what you're into) But why? There is delicious Indian food next to 7-11 AND the Laundromat!!! Everyone here is super friendly and seems sincerely appreciative

The online ordering system is flawed-the delivery guy made me sign a credit card slip for $5 more than posted on my final order. Hoping I don't get charged twice for mediocre pizza, not that great today. Read over my previous review-perhaps I was a bit harsh? As they don't always understand what you order over the phone-(2nd language?) best to order simply or in person. Still my go to place for Indian Vegetarian Pizza and for those nights when I craze just 1 or 2 slices of cheese pizza.

  • Jeff C.

I always enjoy eating here. The food is excellent. I think most people order to go but it is a nice place to eat for here as well. I like the fact that the restaurant is family owned and that they really care about their customers .

New obsession: Indian pizza. Old obsession: ordering food for delivery online. Their synthesis: yeeesss. Golden Gate Pizza is pretty much a dream come true for me. Their veggie Indian pizza is awesome! For a decent price, you get a regular pizza crust topped with saag (you choose how much!), mozzarella, turmeric-colored cauliflower, green onions, red onions, bengan bharta, and tomatoes. And, best of all, you don't have to speak with anybody to arrange for delivery; their website allows you to place an order. Delivery times tend to hover around one hour, but they're practically located in the ocean, so I expect to wait a while anyway.

THE ONLY REASON this place does not get 5 stars from me is because I have to specify every single time: MAKE IT SPICY AND CAN I HAVE SPOONS & FORKS, PLEASE?! Why must I struggle everytime to get my curry spicy, I don't know. Other than that... this place offers the best Indian Cuisine that gets to my house between 20-45 minutes. My foods' bubblin' hot when it gets to me! I love it, but can you make it spicy? And where's my fork and plate?!

  • Daniel H.

This place looks so nondescript that I didn't even realize it was a restaurant. A friend took me there and let me tell you, this place is GOOD. Their mango chutney is soooooo yummy. Karahi chicken is the shizz, as is the chili cheese naan.

It's very painful for me to say that I will never buy a pizza from here again. My mother honked at a driver who blew a stop sign. The driver had the nerve to follow my mother (who is a senior citizen) until she pulled over and verbally assaulted her. Totally unacceptable. The owner of this place just tried to explain that the driver (who is his brother) was following my mother to apologize for his conduct. I find this explanation of this event beyond insulting. The irony is that I was going to buy at least eight pizza's at Golden Gate Pizza & Indian Cuisine for Saturday. Now, I'm not...EVER!

I've ordered from these guys a bunch and I always get the same thing, but that thing is always amazing, so I've gotta share: the veggie Indian pizza, vegetable korma (soooo delicious, and perfect for dipping the pizza), and garlic naan or garlic cheese bread. They always deliver quick and fresh and are super nice when I've gone in. Yum I'm hungry just thinking about it...

Hmm well, i don't really know the names of Indian foods and what not but i do know good food when i taste it, and this food is decent haha not great, but decent. I usually come here for the buffet at lunch which is around 10 bucks, not too bad. The curry here is soo good. All i know is the sauce is orange and it has chicken in it. the naan bread is made fresh. i always see the same guy working everytime which is good because he is super friendly and efficient bringing drinks and bread to the table

  • Eryn S.

Yes and Yes Please! The pizza here is great, I'd even call it classic. Nice crust (it's thin) good topping selection and yummy sauce. The indian food is good too... it's not the spiciest, and I have a suspicion they use alfredo in the TIkka Masala, but either way, it's a winner. I got the Tandoori chicken and was SO delighted, really good! It's open 7 days, and open late too. Golden Gate is the JAM.

I'm so effing bored of this town. I've covered every square inch of it in my lifetime, and it all blurs together in one familiar soup. Nothing is new anymore, and I'm rarely surprised by anything I didn't know was there. So imagine my surprise when a friend of mine showed up my Indian-food-loving ass last year and busted out with Golden Gate Pizza. Holy crap. My mind was blown. It wasn't the best I've ever had (to be fair, I prefer a more Pakistani bent) but it was the right thing at the right time. The surprise was so refreshing, the food tasted better than it actually was. We went for lunch on a weekday so we had the place to ourselves, and I remember the service was great and the saag paneer was delicious. It was quirky and odd and I loved it.

  • Lyn D.

I really like this place. Although I've never had the courage to order their pizza, the Indian food is pretty good and I've had a good share. Something in their saag paneer keeps me ordering it every time I go there. The curries are good and I was recently introduced into an eggplant dish that was also really good. The naan is warm and toasty and the beer is cold. Parking is available but the 7-Eleven next door is a bit shady.

Until GPS becomes ubiquitous in delivery vehicles for Indian pizza joints, I'm resigned to enjoying my eggplant and spinach delights at luke-warm temperatures or cooler. Living off Monterey Blvd, we're almost equidistant from SF's two purveyors of this tasty treat, Zante & Golden Gate, and we generally are last on the delivery route for either venue, by which point the driver is lost, bewildered, and modestly pissed. While Zante gets the edge on quality, they are uniformly surly over the phone, and answer all inquiries with a grumpy and terse, "the driver is on his way". Not so for Golden Gate, and they have my vote going forward for best Indian SF Pizza Experience, which is about as arcane a category as I can imagine.

I am on a low carb diet, so I can't comment on the pizza or the naan, but this Indian food is great. After getting fed up from the huge decline of the Naan n Curry on Irving (in addition to the decreased quality and the increased oil and arrogance of the help), I have been looking for a new place for take out when I am returning to Marin via 19th ave. or the Great Highway. I Yelped this place and the food is among the best I have had and the portions are great. Another bonus is the parking is sooo easy, not having to double park on Irving anymore and waiting 45 minutes for an order called an hour before. I have found a new place and plan to stick with it! The portions seem about double Naan n Curry, so the prices seem to be actually lower when you consider how much food you actually end up with. At Naan n Curry I had to place two orders of an item to have enough to serve a few people, the huge plastic tubs of GG Pizza and Indian can go straight into the fridge and hold several days worth of tasty curries. That's right! No more saran wrapped, soggy little paper Chinese food take-out containers to cut into and transfer to Tupperware before they completely dissolve into pulp!!

  • Flora K.

I love this place! When we feel like pizza and Indian food, Golden Gate cures both cravings. The Indian pizza is amazing. One of us is vegetarian; the other isn't, so we get half and half, Indian veggie and Indian chicken. YUMMMM! The flavors are really original, the service is always friendly, and parking is a breeze. Who could ask for more?

    (5)
  • E B.

I think that Ravena F. has said what needed to be said. But one more point, these people care about their food and its obvious. If you are from New York, the pizza is good. If you are from anywhere else, the pizza is great.

This place upon first impression appears clean and well maintained and the service was also quite good. We made the mistake of arriving just after the daily BUFFET had shut down. We ordered in total 4 menu items and were apparently served LEFT OVERS from the buffet. The food quality was horrible and tasted old and warmed over. The clincher was the $50 plus bill. I don't mind paying for excellent Indian food but paying for left overs from the daily buffet presented to us as freshly prepared dishes IS unacceptable. IF YOU GO HERE DO NOT ARRIVE IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE BUFFET CLOSES OR YOU WILL BE SERVED GARBAGE!!!

  • Vik P.

I went there a couple of times with my gf. The first time we actually went to go to eat indian pizza but then ended up eating 'indian buffet' which was great better than most of the 'indian buffet' places in the city. The second time we went there to eat indian pizza and it was 'okay'. I guess I was expecting a lot more from the indian pizza n plus I don't like tandoori chicken mixed with spinach (saag) on the pizza so it didn't really do for me. But the owner was very nice n friendly. I would totally go there again for Samosas, gulab jaumun n indian food but not for pizza for sure.

the combination of pizza & indian scared me. but the good reviews for this place drew me in. this place deserves the good reviews. the food is good - and after searching for good indian in sf, this is a relief. the price is good. and the service was friendly and good. and the veggie indian pizza was fun and good.

I just went here for my birthday with a big group of friends. It's a great place to go with a group of people because there's somethinf for everyone. Some of my friends got the Indian pizza, one group the meat, one the vegetarian, and both were happy. My bf and I loved the vegetable korma and the naan. Someone in the group even got a burger and was satisfied. I also really liked my chai. Our service could have been a bit faster, especially since the restaurant wasn't busy, but I will most definetely be going back,

I just moved to the outer sunset area of SF and in the middle of unpacking I was starving. Lucky for me, someone had left a menu hanging on my door and it offered delivery. I can't say how much I love the fact that after a long day of moving, someone would actually come to my door with such yummy food. I highly recommend trying the bangan bartha, if you're into eggplant dishes. It has a somewhat spicy coconut taste of a curry dish, but beware if you have braces they might stain your rubberbands. Yikes! Their tanduri chicken is also great to have over rice as well as the mango chutni. If I ever get the chance, I will definitely try to visit this place in person. For now, I'll stick to just delivery.

The Day-Glo yellow paint job on the storefront makes Golden Gate Pizza & Indian Cuisine all but impossible to miss. A mauve-pink concrete stairway graced by OSHA-standard handrails descends below the parking lot, forming a garish contrast hinting that Sherwin Williams only had two colors on the closeout rack the day before this place was painted. "Lunch", I said to myself after reasoning that anyone who ran a yellow and pink Indian restaurant as far out as 46th and Judah while operating from a below-ground storefront HAD to be doing something right if he was still in business. Unfortunately, I had a date, and she was having something of an off day. Janet was used to the relative civility of Nob Hill, but I'd succeeded in dragging her on a full-scale safari of pub-crawling through the Outer Sunset. So far, my favorite haunts weren't going over so well....and with each stop, she became more hesitant. We'd walked quite a ways, and I was getting hungry enough to start gnawing bark off trees. I made a beeline for the door.....Janet followed reluctantly, voicing reservations and displaying visible apprehension. The multicolor nightmare ends the minute you walk into the place, revealing an entrance that dumps into a pizza-parlor style reception area. Janet glanced at the menu....she'd already nixed a previous dining attempt by playing the vegetarian card at "The Sam McGuire" on Noriega. An ample assortment of veggie dishes assured it wouldn't trump here. Next, we were shown to a surprisingly pleasant dining area that I hadn't noticed. I made myself at home...Janet eased up quite a bit. I got the Chicken Vindaloo....she got the Saag Paneer. My dish was definitely a lot more Indian and less Pakistani....more tomatoey-sweet with a slight burn rather than the curry-to-the-max that I'm used to. Still, it was pretty dang good! Janet was all smiles from start to finish, and said her Saag was one of the best she'd had! (Note: this woman IS NOT one to hold back grievances). Nan bread comes in smaller quantities...a little smaller than a dinner plate rather than the steering-wheel sized units I'm used to. If you go through a lot of it, order several. They also cut the Nan in quarters....make sure to tell them not to do this if you like it to arrive whole (one of my pet preferences). Several people two tables over had the Indian Pizza....after eavesdropping a bit, I heard them give it a pretty strong thumbs-up. Note to self: This place delivers....Keep it in mind when I'm watching the Steeler games at Pittsburgh's Pub across the street....It'll beat the heck out of Lay's Classics and a hot dog. In baseball lingo, I walked into Golden Gate with two outs and a count of 0 and 2 against me. The dinner wasn't a home run with Janet....lets just say it was a hard line drive to left field that got a man on base. But Pittsburgh's Pub was right across the street, and even though it was a bad place to end this date, I couldn't head back home without stopping by to sip a pint and impress my old codger buddies by showing up with Janet (She's pretty easy on the eyes...). All my favorite cantankerous, rough-cut locals were there. Janet was the star attraction...but she wasn't amused. Strike one, Strike two, STRIKE THREE!!! End of the inning, and a quiet N-Judah ride home.

OMG! I went with a big group of my friends today to try the lunch buffet. It was SOOOO tasty and delicious! It felt really luxurious to have so many options to choose from, and to eat as much as we wanted. And we couldn't believe how affordable it was -- with a coupon from the Guardian, the lunch buffet was only $6.95, plus you get a free soda. SWEET DEAL!!!

oh man.. gotta love that indian pizza! i usually get the chicken kind, but i hear the veggie version is just as glorious. i also get the chicken tikka masala with onion naan. mmm. goodness. and i've also had their burgers a few times. they're prety basic. the kind you get from a backyard bbq. not the best in the world but pretty filling. and it comes with fries. minus one star for the dryness, tho. i always order from this spot and it has yet to fail me.

This place is fantastic! You can order your food over the internet and in about 20-30 min the brother of the owner brings it to your house. The pizza is so filling and you can pick if you want light med or heavy sauce, it last for days and and is so delicious. I've only ordered it for delivery so I'm not sure about the buffet but I hear it's great. When we get the india food we get 2 dishes and naan and we still have left overs for days. It comes in plastic tuperwear so you can save it. It's such i great place.

I love this place!! I live about two blocks away and since I'm busy and hardly ever cook for myself, I'm always appreciative of bargain food that's yummy! Golden Gate Pizza & Indian certainly provides on both accounts. Seeing as how I always only eat half of what I get (a curry of some sort + rice), whatever I get is always two meals worth--so I end up paying like $15 for tonight's dinner and tomorrow's lunch. That's a good deal. And it's GOOD. I especially love the matar paneer, but then, I'm a sucker for peas. The Indian pizza is amazing too, and so ingenious, who'd've thought it would be so good? Their regular American (Italian?) pizza is really good too. Good crust! I rarely eat there--it's usually pretty empty and the ambiance leaves a bit to be desired--but I have to say I *love* the people who own it and work there. Reserved on the surface but so warm and kind on the inside! They also deliver for free, and it's really quick too! I LOVE THIS PLACE.

The buffet makes all the difference! Loves it. Indian is my all time fav, and since I'm so easy to please, it's hard for me to find bad Indian food. They're open late, for the area which is convenient.

I can't agree with the positive reviews for this place. The Indian Pizza was pretty much crap because it was soggy, greasy, and had some sort of weird brown goo on it that was supposed to be chicken? It tastes kind of how you'd expect a place that nonsensically specializes in both Italian and Indian food would make an Indian Pizza..it was a half-assed mess. Delivery was slow (okay, so they're way out there) and the dessert I ordered, the Kulgi, tasted vaguely of the desserts I grew up eating, but had some sort of weird grainy texture. My quest to find great late night delivery continues..

I live in the neighborhood and have been ordering the take-out Indian food for years and it's excellent. The veggie samosas are great and the Bengen Bharta will wow even the most eggplant-averse friend of yours. I've ordered the pizza many times - usually the spinach pizza (spinach, pepperoni, tomatoes, feta) - but tonight got the chicken indian pizza and my wife and I were floored. It was one of the most harmonious pizzas ever and compelled me to yelp. It's spinach curry sauce, ginger, cilantro, red onion, tomato, small bits of tandoori chicken, mozzarella, on a perfectly cooked thin crust. This is one of the best takeout places (I've even enjoyed the hamburger and meatball sandwich).

can someone tell me what it is around here with pizza places doubling as an indian restaurant? the samosas are my new favorite here. the pizza is pizza. but the eggplant bartha on it gives me gas. yes it does. great delivery, pretty good food, and seemingly nice people!

  • A P.

My boyfriend and I order delivery from here at least once a month. We ALWAYS get the allu gobi and the vegetarian samosas and usually one other dish, and we ALWAYS end up overeating because it is so damn good. I tried the Chicken Indian Pizza and it was okay but not as good as I had hoped. Oh well, I've never been disappointed with any of their Indian entrees. I've only dined-in once, and we were the only ones there so service was good and fast. PS- don't forget the mango chutney!

  • jared c.

I was a bit skeptical when a friend took me here. Pizza and Indian? Sounds crazy to me. We took a table and ordered some indian food, no pizza. I was surprised because it was actually really good. Got a couple different chicken dishes. Tikka Masala and something else. Somosas are really good too. I went back here again a week or so later. Between this place and the Thai place a few blocks over on Lincoln it is hard to decide where to eat.

For solid, delivery Indian food, this random place is good (and I based my review on that). It might not be the MOST authentic Indian with dishes you don't find anywhere else, etc. but the things we ordered were solid, the delivery time was good and their menu is varied (see other reviews for more non-Indian choices). We ordered Prawn Curry (mild in spices & good), Chicken Tikka Masala (solid but a TEENY bit underspiced), Okra (OK), Saag Taneer (good), garlic naan and kabli naan. Must say, not all Indian restaurants serve the cherry naan so props for that! In general, most of their dishes could have packed more punch in flavor (not in spicy quotian but flavor). But good enough to keep the menu and order again the next time I feel lazy and in the mood for Indian. Or pizza. Or meatball sandwich. Or BBQ chicken. =)

I just had hot & delicious Indian food delivered to my door, swaying me to believe my god may indeed be Hindu. I ordered 2 rices and got 2 Sprites, but the entrees automatically come with rice, so it was funny, not sad.

I can't recommend ordering anything other than the Indian Pizza. Not because I haven't tried it, but because everything else I have tried was not good. I don't mind though, cause the Indian Pizza was superb. And they'll deliver it if you are not feeling like leaving your home!

My boyfriend and I decided to eat here after his 2nd session with jessy across the street. We didn't expect much of this place but turns out the indian pizza is soooooo good.

back in the day i used to rent a flat with two friends on 41st and judah. and when the 3 of us were craving pizza, we'd order from this place... sometimes we'd go and pick it up ourselves, but i've never actually 'dined' here... just sat down to wait for our pizza to finish. i think a few times we ordered indian food too... but mostly their indian pizza which is just scrumptiously yummy.. mmmmmmmm it's like a harmonious meeting of the best of both worlds... it's genious to have an indian restaurant/pizza place together... unlike the other more well known combos in the city.... chinese food 'n donuts... ewwwww....

Golden Gate is by far the best. I have tried about five other Indian places in the city and Golden Gate beats them all by price and taste. I used to frequent the Fillmore buffet spot for years until the quality started going down and I found a couple strands of hair in my food. After living in the Sunset for almost four years, I finally tried Golden Gate's buffet and I was hooked! The Chicken Tikka Masala is amazing!!!! The Saag Paneer is also good. I don't want there to be a frenzy, but when you eat at their buffet they give you hot, fresh Naan (included in the buffet price) and it is incredible... The servers are great as they keep the Naan coming. The actual restaurant is small, but the food is well worth it. Golden Gate is not the cheapest, yet not the most expensive, but it is tasty and quality food. They share parking with the laundromat and the 7-11 next door, but the N line stops extremely close by. Their new online delivery system is very convenient. I noticed they deliver your food faster if you pay with cash. I just got delivery from there and I'm still debating whether to go back for seconds. Gotta go!

I've been getting menus from this place on my door for over a year now. Sometimes the only thing I need in life is a cheeseburger, so I can't begin to tell you how excited I was to find burgers on their menu during a recent late night "what-the-heck-am-i-going-to-order-in-?-nothing-sounds-good-except-a-cheeseburger-and-all-i-have-are-ethnic-menus" moment of panic. Because the burger is only 6 bucks I needed to order more items to make the $15 delivery minimum. How about some samosas - meat and regular, and throw in some naan too? Less than 30 minutes later a friendly man delivered my food with a smile. The cheeseburger was actually a 'double' with two patties and definitely chased my craving away. The fries that came with the burger weren't anything exciting, so I relied on the naan to foot the evenings carbohydrate bill. The samosas were great the next day. Both the vegetarian and meat samosas were HUGE and tasty, though I preferred the potato and pea to the lamb. Will certainly order from here again!

I was once addicted to the vegetarian indian pizza that I would get from here. So yummy. I would usually ask them to go light on the cheese. They would put on so much on it would take away from all the delicious flavors in the pizza. Warning: be very close to a bathroom after eating a couple of slices. Sometimes it's the price you have to pay for good greasy food.

Don't let the pizza part fool you, this place is actually reknown in small circles for having some of the best vegetarian curries *anywhere* -- try the matar paneer or saag paneer. The kabuli naan is tasty and the indian pizza is a novelty that is worth a try. Atmosphere is mediocre, location is nowhereland, but the curry is superb.

Came here for the Indian Chicken Pizza and good god it was amazing! I never had Indian pizza before this and it surpassed my expectations. My only complaint is that it was a bit pricey, but Indian food is almost always expensive anyhow. We were the only ones there besides an Indian family, but I take that as a good sign of great authentic food. Also have inexpensive Indian beer which was fun to try. Awesome pizza. I can already feel an addiction developing.

In this wonderful city of contrasts, I shouldn't be surprised that there's a restaurant like Golden Gate serving both pizza and Indian food. The pizza with the spinach curry sauce, cauliflower, garlic, and eggplant was delicious.

This place is just the most random thing ever. It shares a lot with the 7-11 next door and those are the only two things in this tiny strip mall (if you can call it that). It just looks like a place that you would only try if you've pounded a six-pack of beer, went to a blue grass festival, and wanted a place to stop as you biked home... which, as it happens to be, is how me and my buddies ended up trying it. We got two things there: the Indian Chicken Pizza and some lamb curry. The curry was nothing to write home about but man that pizza was something else! It's like they took all the good indian stuff i liked and transformed it into another awesome food i like. The crust was like a light and fluffy naan, topped with a saag sauce, then topped with mozzarella, tandoori chicken, and tomatoes. Super good. so go ahead and give it a try. and don't be skeptical of weird/rantom ethnic food combinations. and listen to blue grass. p.s. The lunch buffet is whatevers.

My brother and I were thinking Indian, but we didn't want to venture out for it, so I checked out several Indian restaurants on Yelp for those with delivery service. This stood out for some reason and who would have thought that they had an online ordering system? Well, since I was planning on delivery, why not give it a try? The online ordering system works like any other online retail store. You order what you want, click check out and select your payment method (cash or credit card). One thing I would suggest to this system is to include the accepted payment types on their main website. Doesn't show until you get to the check out page, but they do take Visa and Mastercard. There's one more option, other than cash, but I can't remember it. Too anxious to eat. Oh, there are delivery options too like ASAP, or set a time for delivery. You could also order online and opt for pick up or dine in. So it's actually pretty cool, but simple to use at the same time. Now for the food! I ordered the Chicken Tandoori, Vegetable Korma, two garlic and two regular naans. Both the tandoori and korma can be ordered to a specific level of spiciness. I had the tandoori at medium and the korma at mild. All these came within 45 minutes. Oh, before I forget, they might call you to confirm your online order! Back to the food. The Tandoori wasn't that spicy at all and it was pretty much on whole chicken, but it's a really, ridiculously small chicken. Maybe a game hen... It wasn't too bad overall, but something could be added to it, just can't put a finger on what. The Vegetable Korma was my list topper. It's not spicy, but it's creamy and piping hot! Most of the vegetables are at the bottom of the container, so if you want, you could scoop them up with your spoon, or dip the curry until it's low enough to make scoops out of your naan and cup the vegetables! Either way, I'm a fan of the Korma! The naans are good either way to compliment the curry. Overall, I like this, but I'll probably be fixated on the Indian for a while. The pizza...I have other pizza joints nearby, but this is conveniently my Indian choice for delivery!

How great!...slash weird. I've only been once, but I just think its a great idea that, surprisingly, works. Please note that I've only had one thing there which was one of the "Curry Pizzas", so yes, my review may be a bit skewed. The pizza had saag instead of tomato sauce, was covered with lots of veggies, and chopped up tandoori chicken..and lots of melted cheese. It just worked! And pizza is just as good the next day.

Pure San Francisco Genius -- Versatile, Cheap, and close to the beach! Though I don't think anyone would fare well eating curry on the beach, G-Gate is a great place to get your Desi Pizza Grub on. Bring in a big group of people and the cooks are guaranteed to bring in their A game to win you over. I can't say I love everything here, but considering all the other crap excuses for Indian food in San Francisco, G-Gate is a winner! Bonus: It's right off the N, but there is also a small parking lot! Yayness.

I ate here late at night with my guy. Piercing silence in the restaurant was deafening. The décor was old and outdated. Waitresses were solemn upon approaching the table. Then once they open their mouths to speak, a happy sing-songy voice follows. Their beautiful voices and friendly smile didn't fit in with the worn out surroundings. On top of that, there was this young chick in the corner staring at me like I was the main dish. I made my guy scoot to the right to block her stares with his big head. Once his head bobbed down to eat, I caught the young chick with a huge makeup brush powdering her face. Total Twilight Zone. Maybe it was the hour. Maybe I was drunk. Maybe I wasn't really there. On the other hand, the food was not disappointing. Tea was delicious and fresh. Samosas ($3.25) Delicious deep fried potato dumplings served with chutney. Naan ($1.95) Fresh from the clay oven. Huge, warm, soft, and scrumptious. Chicken Tikka Masala ($10.95) Full of flavor and generous portion of sauce to dip your naan. Allu Gobi ($8.95) Potatoes and Cauliflower seasoned with garlic and spices. Overall: Worn out décor, twilight zone ambiance late at night, friendly and attentive servers, fresh and good food. I hear their pizza is the best and they deliver. Note to Owners: Turn on some Bollywood beats and maybe the place won't seem like a desolated restaurant off a dead-end highway.

While wandering around for the first time in this stretch of the outer sunset, an ugly sign suddenly materialized in front of my eyes: Pizza & Indian. It was all I needed to see together to know I might've hit the jackpot. I tried Indian pizza for the first time at Zante's and thought it was a brilliant idea. I can't do a direct comparison since it's been a while, but I can say that this pizza was pretty darn delicious. I ordered a small vegetarian indian-style pizza. The small is six slices and came to just under $20. Granted, that's a little expensive for a small pizza, but it makes dinner for two plus some left over. The crust was nicely chewy and a little charred; the onions and spinach curry sauce were sweet and fragrant; the cheese ratio was good. The only thing I thought was odd was that the cauliflower seemed like it'd been steamed and put on it, whereas I would think roasting it would be tastier and make more sense. Overall, still awesome. C'mon. Indian food and pizza. You can't go wrong.

The menu is so crazy how could you not love it? The pizza is pretty good considering it's coming from an Indian restaurant, but skip the salads. Now the chicken tikka masala is something to write about. I still don't know what's in it, maybe I don't want to know...but it's the bomb! ps. The sketchy facade of this place is not indicative of the food..I'll admit I was a little afraid to eat here the first time, but so glad I did!

Hmmmm. So last night I was feeling la-ay-zee-ee and really didn't feel like cooking. That and I haven't been to the market in weeks, so the pickins were as they say, slim. I went through all 4 of my delivery menus and didn't feel like Deja Vu again and definitely wasn't craving Chinese food. Since Indian is a tough one with the dreaded cinnamon allergy I was almost at a loss until I saw Pizza & Indian Cuisine? How did that combo happen? And more importantly, how did ribs and fried chicken make their way onto a pizza & Indian cuisine menu? Well, i had to find out. And so i ordered a few things to try since with delivery for the first time, your chances are risky of actually finding something you like, especially when most of the reviews leaned towards the Indian side of the food equation. The food arrived about 45 minutes or so later and it was piping hot and smelled good. I was also really friggin hungry. I then sampled a few of the things and on the whole it was okay. The ribs were kinda tough and the one piece of fried chicken I tried had a sort of sweet thing going on. It was subtle, but definitely not one of the best friend chickens I've tried. I'll take Popeye's over that any day. The salad however, was tasty and came already dressed. A good point to note since you wouldn't want it to get soggy, so maybe ask for dressing on the side. Not really sure if i would order it again, but for a filling meal on an otherwise depressing hump day, it did its job.

So during my duration living at 33rd and Judah I often ordered out from this place. Their Indian food is great to say the least, but being a frequent customer it was hilarious and awesome that one day when we were having a party at the house, a very drunken friend of mine answered the door and signed off for my delivery check. Shortly after that, since the delivery guy noticed that it wasn't me that signed off on my bill, they called me to make sure I ordered and received the food. So I find it awesome that they knew me from my past orders and made sure there was no f*ck-ups that somebody else was trying to use my checking card. Thanks a lot!

Before I begin, I just want to say that I like indian food very much, just not on my pizza/hamburgers/fries/etc. I looked at the previous comments and ratings and thought, hey why not give this place a change. I'm not going to say it's good or bad cuz I want you to decide. If you spent 50 bucks on food from a place to deliver to your house would you expect something that leaves a armpit-like smell on your fingers.. not to mention the smell is coming from eating a pizza? I ordered an x-large pizza with meatballs, linguica and shrimp. i tasted each individually and the shrimp was "ok", the linguica was actually pretty good, but the meatballs were definately not italian meatballs. they had this odor that smelled of leftover tacos and a faint arm-pit smell to it. Next I also ordered a teriyaki burger w/ fries. the lettuce tomato and fries were decent. the burger patty tasted burned and old. the burger also had the "odor" to it as well (although not as strong as it was on the pizza) I was looking for a place with burgers and pizza's, not an indian + arm-pit smell all over it as well. I feel ripped off and so I leave this comment to those interested in this place to beware of pizza & other common fare such as burgers and fries. I like indian food, but again, just not on my pizza, burgers or whatever else isn't indian unless specified as otherwise.

One day a long, long time ago, my friend and I were headed towards the beach on a freakishly sunny S.F. day and stopped in a unevenly paved parking lot in front of a yellow painted wall. It read "Golden Gate Pizza & Indian Cuisine". My friend went into the convenience store next to it while I stared in confusion and curiosity about a pizza and Indian restaurant that stood before my very eyes.... In a previous review of an Indian restaurant I stated that if I believed in past-lives I would have been from India or some country in the Middle East, but what I didn't expose was that pizza is one of my favorite foods in all the universe. So to have pizza and the native food of my "past-life" in one???!!! It appeared to be a match made in perfection. Unfortunately we had to go to the beach, but fortunately, they deliver!!! Alright so the food. Yes, so one must try the Korma coconut curry. I get the vegetable one, but I'm telling you, this Korma business is like eating a very well seasoned soup of butter. I get it every time. EVERY TIME PEOPLE! Even delivered it's hot (temp) enough to burn my mouth each time, just the way I like my food. I have tried bites of the shrimp curry, which is lighter and less thick but still tasty. I have had the samosas, which are hard to go wrong anywhere b/c fried foods.... COME ON! I've even tried the pizza, which isn't like the best pizza around, but still, it tasted like pizza. I gave this 5 stars b/c it's all about the KORMA, baby!

I am still in love with this place... I recently tried the calzone for the first time and it was completely incredible. Their crust is just AWESOME. ONE COMPLAINT: they NEVER cut their pizzas all the way. Seriously... we have ordered pizza from them probably a dozen times and we have never once NOT had to finish cutting every single slice apart from each other as we eat it. That being said, it is still the best pizza I've gotten in the city. It's somehow not greasy while still being quite flavorful. It sits in your stomach very lightly and still fills you up nicely. Also, if you're wanting spicy food, like actually spicy, be sure to repeatedly assure them you want it "super" spicy, which translates to about a 7 or 8 on my personal scale at this place, BUT it's still great.

Simple, very good, home style Punjabi food. Love the quirkiness of mixing Italian and Indian in one establishment (plus the whole vibe of the place), but I've never tried any of the Italian stuff.

I scarcely can allow a weekend to pass without going to the buffet at Golden Gate Pizza and Indian cuisine. How can you beat all-you-can-eat for $7.95? I'll admit that the facade is tacky as all get out. It's sort of below the parking lot along a lowered sidewalk that seems to reek a bit of bodily fluids. It's next to a laundromat and the 7-11. But it is worth disregarding these little flaws to come inside and try the food. I first gave them a try when I got home from work one evening and was too thrashed to even think about cooking or going out. They had left a menu on the gate and I gave them a call. On that occasion, I ordered Saag Paneer, rice and Naan. The Saag Paneer was made exactly the way I personally like it, just enough spice and just enough cheese. The Naan was fresh and crusty/chewy/soft. The rice was fragrant with spices. I became an instant fan. I really like Indian food, especially the Punjabi variety. This little place is near home, and has really good food at reasonable prices. The buffet often features Saag Paneer, always has Tandoori Chicken, usually has lamb curry, nearly always has chicken Tikka Masala, and frequently features Channa Masala, to name only a few. There is rice and Chai on a cart, and there are also some dessert items I never have room for. They bring hot, fresh Naan to the table. I haven't tried the pizza, because I can't keep from having the Indian food, but I am told it's quite good, and that they use the same bread dough as for the Naan. Sounds great. The people who own it are sweet and friendly. I always enjoy going in there.

I feel like I ate the Chicken Indian pizza at least 3x a week for a whole summer when I was crashing at a friend's house around the corner. It is SO good. I know it sounds weird, but the combination of fragrant spices, fresh veggies and tandoori chicken topped with cheese is perfect! Don't ask me about the rest of the menu though, I am set in my ways.

I recommend the indian dishes here far more than the pizza, which can be hit or miss. I can't vouch for any of the meat dishes, but all the vegetarian dishes are decent. I always get the chana masala or the mattar paneer. I like that they have five levels of spiciness to choose from, but wish they were more consistent. Sometimes medium hot is not enough, sometimes hot is too much. I struggle to decide every time I order, but it is always yummy. The naan is just okay, in my opinion. Everything is a bit on the oily side, and heavy on the sauce but there aren't a lot of options around here for indian so I take what I can get, especially since they deliver.

I have to admit that I was a bit taken aback from the outside, since it looks like a takeout-only place with no seating. However, once you actually get inside it opens up into a comfortable dining area. And that's where it gets good. The food we had was hands-down, the best Indian food I've had in the Bay area. The naan was brough out piping hot, the staff was really friendly, and they had a nice selection of beers (both domestic and Indian) on hand. Sure, it doesn't look so great from the outside, but you owe it to yourself to get over that and head on it for an excellent meal.

Good Indian food, but in my opinion overpriced. I've ordered from here a few times, and I've found the prep time to be pretty low. The kitchen is right by the front door which usually leads to the person who takes your money always working the preparation of your food. I've not seen any blatant health code violations, but this seems like a ripe environment for such infractions. Most recently, I had tikka masala and basmati rice came up to $14 for a single order, and I was picking it up. The chicken was still very hot, even nearly a half hour later when I finally got to eating it. The yogurt sauce was flavorful and the chicken tasted and looked like it was all breast meat. The rice was above average, flavored with cloves and a bay leaf. In all, a solid Indian restaurant. This location has practically no local competition to keep prices down, so don't expect a Naan & Curry bill.

We got this delivered to my friend's place in Cole Valley this weekend. We got the Indian veggie special, which I really enjoyed. Onions, garlic, tomatoes, cauliflower, cheese, eggplant, I liked it a lot. Only one thing - the smell of the pizza is a little weird. Taste is fine though. The veg pakora and samosas were only ok. And also, their web site is a bit confusing - it says $15 minimum delivery, but if you are using the "order online" option, it forces you to go to $30 before tax before it will let you submit the order. Also, the promise to call you to confirm in 10 mins doesn't happen either - we called to confirm after about 20 and they said it wasn't ready yet, yet 5 mins later the delivery guy showed up. All in all, a little quirky operationally, but I enjoyed the Indian Pizza a lot!

Our stand by Indian delivery place since Star India on Polk burned down. I like the variety offered here, including the pizza (I am a fan of the Indian-style pizzas), American junk food (ribs, fries), and of course, the Indian offerings. Somethings don't work as well for delivery, such as the french fries which I discovered. However, we always enjoy the Indian. The chicken tikka masala is always really good, the naan and pratha reliable. The saag paneer is particularly rich here, so I probably won't be ordering it again. The food usually arrives in about 45 minutes, sometimes (but rarely) even faster. The delivery people are always friendly.

Super yummy and fast delivery! Food was still very hot, naan was so fresh. The quality of the food was great and the chicken was tender. It was definitely a little pricey with kinda small portions, but i'll definitely order again, yea!! UPDATE: I've ordered delivery a bunch of times now, the food is always super good and the delivery kinda takes a long time, like about an hour each time. but it's worth it.

I really enjoy this place: the hilariously dive-y location next to the laundromat and the 7-11, the quintessentially San Francisco idea of a full-on Indian restaurant that also doubles as a pizzeria, and, of course, the food, which is quite good no matter which cuisine you decide to go with. On that note, the best thing on the menu is the combination of the two, the vegetarian Indian pizza (go with the veggie, not the chicken). We're in the neighborhood and get about one of these a week. I don't think I've ever had anything quite like this pizza. It's basically just a standard crust with a curry sauce, cheese, and a variety of veggies, but it's as tasty as it is unusual. I'll admit that we usually get one of these when we've got someone visiting from out of town and want a cheap way to share some San Francisco quirkiness, and it always impresses. Incidentally, the rest of the pizzas are fine, and the Indian menu is great. The lunch buffet is a nice bargain ($7.95, all you can eat, with a small but delicious selection of standard dishes). Delivery is fast, although I usually pick up. Wait and counter staff can be a bit aloof.

My first thought was,"'pizza *and* Indian food??!?? I don't know about this place." But, it wasn't bad. I'm on a butter chicken kick, and theirs was very good. I was a little disappointed because I asked for it to be made spicier and it didn't happen. I also found the garlic naan not very garlicky and super chewy, but it was fine. With the limited options out here, it's worth checking out.

Ate here tonight with my parents. We're all from the UK where the Indian food just blows American Indian food out of the water. That said, we were pleasantly surprised at how great the food was here. I'd have to say that it's on par or better than the best Indian restaurants in San Francisco. Although it looks dreadful from the outside, the dining area inside is perfectly acceptable - a lot more attractive than most Indian restaurants in SF. Of course, we ordered the Indian food, not the Pizza or burgers etc. I'll be going back to try the lunch buffet soon! OK - I tried the buffet. It was wonderful. I've eaten here many times since and have to say this is the best indian food SF has to offer. Who would have known!

I used to love their buffet, but the last time I went the rice was yellow and stinky; and that was when I decided it would be the last time. It's quite a shame that they let the buffet food sit there for weeks, too, because it actually does taste good. Reasonable prices, and although the selection is the smallest I've ever seen at a place that calls itself a "buffet," I went multiple times for their Tikka Masala and Rice Pudding. I had the Indian Pizza once, and it was good. 4 stars for the buffet on a "good day," -5 for serving people rotten old food, and +3 stars for the yummy Indian Pizza=2 stars. (-_-)

You know, I really hate to give this place such a bad rating but in the modern-day world of 'yelpping'-- where customer service is at times just as important as product worthiness--this place down-right blows!! Here's why: Me and my boyfriend had been regular customers here and were really looking forward to some afternoon Indian delight. Granted the Indian food is warranted (the pizza, not so much) and they offer an all- you-can eat buffet for $7.99. Me (being the little girl snacker I am) physically cannot stuff mounds of food down my throat at one sitting so ordered something off the menu. My boyfriend on the other hand, was piling his plate miles high from the buffet selection faster than you can say: "f*** the ownership of this place!" Naturally, I had food left over from my meal so kindly asked for a box and was given one without any hesitation along with the bill. As I packed away the remaining food I had, my boyfriend--his gut bulging over his pants sitting across from me--gazed at his plate which he filled so high with remorse and figured "what's the harm with filling your to-go box with what I can't eat?" (Food that would have gone into the trash otherwise). OOOhhh no!! Evidently the owner was stuffing his face with his Indian friends talking jibberish right behind us and almost knocked over the table when he saw this "evil plan" being transpired before his very eyes which my boyfriend had so innocently conjured up. After being scolded by this horrific man, he screamed some malarkey to the waiter who then removed the bill from our table, returning with a new one that had charged us an extra $7.00!!!! Talk about a palak in the face!! Eat a dick evil Indian man.....

We went for the indian food. Not bad....not especially good though. We both felt we've had better Indian food elsewhere, and for a bit less. I may try the pizza someday, but probably won't be back for Indian.

Pretty good Indian food. Delivery time to the Inner Richmond was fantastic- about 20 minutes from the time we placed the order. We would have tried the Indian pizza but not for $23. For these prices, ($11/ chicken tikka masala) I might try Indian Oven. For this quality, which was good, I might try something less $, like Shalimar or Naan and Chutney.

So first we tried the Indian Pizza. Wow. Incredibly filling after only 2 slices. Very interesting idea for a pizza, combines two super good foods..yup you guessed it indian food and pizza! But it's definately worth a try at least once. The second time we ate from here we didn't get the pizza but we completely loved the food!! Plus they give you rather large portions which is always nice- tons of left overs! The only thing I can complain about is the lamb samosas. Super dry.

The food here is pretty good (at least the Indian food, they also serve American and Italian fare). I would say if you are just wanting pizza or Italian food it would be in your best interest to call Brother's, Irving, or Pasquale's. But If you want Indian food, or Indian Pizza for that matter, Golden Gate is the place. The Indian food is pretty solid, the meat dishes actually have a fair amount of meat in them (unlike most Indian food places), and your order comes to you in plastic reusable containers (no more leaky, greasy cartons to muck up your fridge). The naan is decent (delivery naan is bound to be less than crisp once it reaches your door, I suggest throwing them under the broiler for a couple minutes to revive them.) Those of you who are familiar with Indian pizza (Zante's....yuck) are in for a pleasant surprise. The main ingredient in this pie is not grease. In your face Zante's!!! Oh, and if you're really feeling anti-social (or are too hung over to speak) you can order online. Yeah, Golden Gate is fancy like that.

I love indian food. I would eat indian food every day if I could. This place is great if I feel like eating indian but my boyfriend only wants to eat pizza and is very adamant about getting what he wants. Too bad he likes indian food too. So if we both wanted indian, honestly, we would probably NOT go here unless it was raining and our car broke down in the parking lot and I was pregnant and craving indian food or else I would claw my boyfriend up into shreds. Curry: Good! Except there were chicken bones in it. That I didn't expect. That I nearly took an eye out with. Also, expensive and maybe too watery. Naan: Also good! But really, really, really expensive. I wonder if I could make it better.. Pros: Indian woman working there. She was beautiful in a classic way and very nice. Pretty good food (indian anyways, I didn't try their italian side). Also, Parking! Cons: There's no music! It's dark inside. I took my food to go since I seemed like the only one in the restaurant at 1 pm. 1 Star for parking! 1 Star for pretty good indian food (besides the surprise bones) 1 Star for the indian woman

Tried the Chicken Indian Pizza. Delish! Took Jessica T's tip and ordered some mango chutney on the side to dip it in. Yummy! I think it would have tasted even better if it was piping hot, but I was starving so no time for reheating it for me.

We've ordered from here off and on for the past few years. Service has always been spotty, but tonight I decided to order online for the first time. Huge mistake. I give food three stars, remove one star for the iffy service. Online ordering usually has its advantages. No dealing with misunderstandings and you can specify instructions that the person taking your order might not understand. This wasn't the case here. After I called them to verify they received my order, they called me back to clarify whether or not I ordered #34, which is Chicken Tikka Masala, or #81, Chicken Masala w/Mushrooms & French Fries. Problem is, #81 online is listed as Chicken MASALA w/Mushrooms & Fries. On their regular menu, it is listed as Chicken Sauteed w/Mushrooms. No MASALA. There wouldn't be any confusion if they took MASALA off the online menu for entree #81.. Order just arrived, and fairly quickly. Probably because I screamed at the manager when they implied I didn't know what I wanted. The delivery person even circled the numbers on the takeout menu to show me where I erred. Pete likes his BBQ chicken and I did get Chicken Tikka Masala. But as Felix G. wrote in his review 8/12, the Tikka Masala came WITHOUT rice, when the menu says it does. I don't have a problem having to pay extra for rice, but don't say it's included when it really isn't.

Absolutely, completely random as heck. I yelped pizza and was stoked when this place came up. I tried the veg indian pizza special, it was pretty weirdly good. A bit expensive, medium was $20, but I had to try it. Worth a shot, especially if you're wondering how eggplant tastes on pizza. The mango chutney is AMAZING!! Not a very big portion, but it comes with chunks of mango yummm!! I tried the samosas and they were good, better than a lot of other places. Haven't tried their other Indian food, but I imagine it'd be good.

I realize I may have been extra harsh on this establishment. To be honest, the Indian food in SF is different from the Indian food I had in SD. Different regional foods? Different expectations? I don't know. All of my friends tell me they like this place. Maybe its just me.

The best Indian food I have had delivered, and I've tried just about all of them. While the paratha was dry, the chana saag and the chicken tikka were excellent, as was the polau rice. Delivery was on time (a rarity among the Indian restaurants I've tried, almost none of which are near my house in Jordan Park) and the price was right. Yay, finally found a decent Indian delivery place in San Francisco.

** Note: This review is for Indian Pizza only! DELISH!!!!! I've only had the Indian Pizza and considering how absolutely DELISH that is I doubt I will order anything else. My first experience with Indian Pizza was at Zantes in the Mission/Bernal. I thought Zantes was the bomb dizzle until I tried the Golden Gate Indian Pizza. You see the thing with Zantes is that 1- it takes FOREVER for your pizza to arrive and 2- Its tooo rich and greasy whereas this pizza is perfect, the right amount of topings and you dont feel like you need to wash your face afterwards. We have never had any issues with lateness or rudeness. Like I said, its good!!

Best to avoid, rip off. Tried their Indian Vegetarian Pizza a medium size that costed $20.00. These guys can neither do pizza nor do indian well. The pizza was extremely greasy, buttery, lacked freshness and the flavors did not gel at all. Their vegetable biriyani was not cooked, still smelt of some shop picked readymade biriyani powder. Could not even finish half the pizza, threw the biriyani out. Again best to avoid..

ate here once for the indian buffet, and i still remember every bit of what i ate and more. i don't know indian foods all too well in terms of names, but DANG. the bomb ass curry, the meaty awesomeness, and the plentiful amounts of mouth watering goodness. and at what a great price! freggin' delicious. i came out of this place smelling like what i ate. that only comes from places you KNOW you have to keep coming back to. seriously.

Hi All, Okay so I eat here every once in a while. DO NOT EAT THE TANDOORI CHICKEN!!! I had it three times and all three times it was really bad. It was almost like eating rubber! The chicken tikka masala is ok. After watching kitchen nightmares, I am scared to know if their chicken is fresh or not. hmmm.....After carefully analyzing the tandoori chicken i found it very very undercooked. Anyways its an ok place to eat as long as its not all the time. Again scared of getting sick....I rate this a 2 1/2 star because its not bad and its not good. Sincerely yours, -Bay Area Indian Food Critic

I ordered the chicken indian pizza and a Vegetable Biryani for delivery. I tried ordering online, but my zip code was not in there system so it would not let me. But then i called in and they said they would deliver to me in daly city. So that was a plus!! The online ordering is pretty cool too, cause you can order for later times. The pizza and the biryani were both very good. I would of liked the pizza pre cut, but oh well. For pizza it is a little expensive, but that is comparing it to your run of the mill north beach or something. So all in all i would order again.

We placed an order online and it took about 30 mins to whip up and deliver 3 curries, 3 naans, and 6 samosas. GGP & IC has one of the more unheathier recipes in terms of butter/oil ratio in their dishes, but a little clogged artery now and then never hurt anyone, right? A little cottage cheese thigh never stopped anyone from wearing a mini-skirt, right? A double-chin in your mid 20s is still considered baby fat, isn't it?? Damn you Indian food. Why do you have to be so freaking delicious!? You can choose how spicy you want each item so we chose Medium-Hot. At the end of the meal I didn't notice a chest full of hair so I'd say spiciness was perfect. This place kicks some serious Indian delivery booty.

WOW! So the last time I ate at this place was over 15 years ago - long before they had Indian food. But I've moved to the hood, and I'm still in the process of unpacking and my fridge is somewhat bare, so my boyfriend and I decided not to nuke whatever Trader Joe's convenience food I had in the fridge and I ordered, without bothering to first read the positive reviews here. After I ordered, I came here to see if my risk would pay off... and as I browsed good review after good review, my doorbell rang. To my surprise, my dinner was here in about 20 minutes! I could have barely gotten something out of the package in 20 minutes let alone nuked it and had it all warm and yummy and soothing. And this was indeed warm and yummy and soothing. I didn't think I'd have a good Indian place this close to my place. I mean, the Outer Sunset is NOT known for its wide array of culinary choices. There ARE good places, don't get me wrong - I just know I'll need to wander around and discover them. And I'm sure glad that I discovered this one. And yes - the delivery driver is super friendly! I'm so glad that I can count on this place to order from again! Yay!!! :-)

"And now we never have to order from them again," I promised my boyfriend after the delivery of a mediocre and paneer-light, saag paneer and a genuinely tame and almost-too-sweet, lamb-light, lamb korma. The door-hanger menu had intrigued me, and I had heard good things about "that place that does indian pizza." Maybe I should have ordered pizza. I was won over when the menu showed rice coming with each entree, rather than the $1.50 extra we pay to the standard Indian take out in our hood. But, sadly, when I called the woman informed me that rice was extra, and that I must have had an old menu. I could have sworn it was just pulled off my dooknob last week - it was still in the top layer of menus. Doubt was sown, and I should have listened to my instincts to cancel the order at that moment. But, the two stars is for lightning fast delivery. The woman on the phone said it would be 45 minutes, but it was less than 20. The poor delivery guy nearly broke his wrist ringing the bell when I didn't immediately appear. The rice had been cooked the day before (or earlier) and was a bit puffed and split. It didn't even look like jasmine rice when I opened the box.

Er...this is the place I go to when I am too lazy to drag myself over to the Castro to get food at Bombay. I get the feeling that they only set out the paper napkins whenever a customer sits down at a table because nobody ever eats there. It was dark and we were the only people eating there, it gave us the jibblies. My bf and I went to try the buffet and the selection was pretty limited. The curries were room temperature at best, and were watery when we tasted them. Why aren't they more strongly spiced? I think Trader Joe's frozen chicken tikka masala meals are better than that stuff. If the food was warmer then mayyyybe they would've gotten 4 stars. Their redeeming quality is the fresh, delicious naan.

I ordered the "Indian chicken pizza special" and i just have to say - total fail. Italians know pizza, these guys know indian food...keep them separate! Dry "Curry-like" Chicken was in small bits, and the crust totally sucked. Just not happening at all...sigh.

This obscure, isolated spot by the infamously violent 7/11 and the infamously bullshit N-Judah is better than Shalimar -- and Shalimar doesn't have paneer pizza. Take that, Shalimar! Not quite sure why the Indian food/pizza combo works, but it does -- mostly becuase of the PANEER PIZZA, which if you haven't tried, you haven't lived. Honky. Dining in is a little awkward, as the family staff tends to argue up at the counter/bake oven up front, while you twiddle your thumbs and look at the VIshnu statue for the 12th time while pretending not to listen -- that is, of course, unless you're face deep in your $7.95 buffet plate. WHICH YOU ARE. Damn, that's some good paneer.

Excellent spot. The chicken makhanwala is amazing. I usually get Indian food here, but they make classic American food (fried chicken, hamburgers, etc) with the best of them. The Indian pizza is one of a kind. Yes, it is just what it sounds like it is. A pizza, with Indian food on it. Try it and you will not be disappointed.

I wouldn't hesitate to return if I lived in the neighborhood, mainly due to the lack of Indian eats around these parts, but that's about it. Their samosas are very average. The vegetable korma was good, but the amount of veggies were slim in comparison to the enormous amount of sauce, which made me feel like I didn't get what I paid for. While they do have a (small) dining area, it seems most people utilize their delivery--a smart idea, as just loitering inside for your order will mark your body with the infamous curry smell. Golden Gate also churns out pizzas, hence the name, and are in competition with Zante's in the Indian pizza department. Luckily, each are at opposite ends of the City.

Like most everyone else who has reviewed this place, I was skeptical. To say the least. Pizza, hamburgers, Indian food? Plus, the place just looks a bit dumpy. After moving one block away though, we just had to give it a try, especially after all the great reviews. The first time we ordered, we got the chicken pakora and "hot and spicy wings." The pakora was good- not too dry, not too greasy. The hot and spicy wings were just that- hot and spicy. They were in a sort of hot curry broth. I could not eat them, my boyfriend finished the whole thing. Tonight we tried the Indian chicken pizza. It was really quite good. Such an interesting blend of tastes- lots of cilantro, red onion, spinach, and small bits of tandoori chicken. Really good. I am big on crust, and I was quite impressed with the crust here- thin, not too greasy, crisp. I suggest that if you live in the area, you try it. I also just saw that you can order on their website, which is pretty cool. The folks working there (I assume it's family owned) are very nice as well, which is a plus. I am all about supporting my local peeps, as long as they provide good food!

Sheer, morbid curiosity once drove my husband to eat a McDonald's McGriddle sandwich. The combination of egg, meat, cheese and pancake-like bun was enough to make him lick his lips, ponder the experience and declare it "disgustingly delicious." I recalled this explanation last night as I ate Golden Gate's veggie Indian pizza. I was intrigued and excited to try this dish, as I love Indian food (especially eggplant bhartha) and I LOVE pizza and I LOVELOVE free delivery. But bite after bite, I couldn't get over the confusing flavors running through my mouth. I love sweet/salty combo foods, but this was too sweet for me. I think it was the eggplant - I'm used to that dish being a little less sweet and a little spicier. I also wasn't anticipating that it would be sorta plopped all over the pizza in turdlike scoops, rather than spread evenly across the top. Live and learn. It wasn't a total disappointment, but like hubby's McGriddle, it may be the first and last one I ever taste. I won't rule them out for future Indian delivery (or regular pizza for that matter - the crust was great!). EDIT 3/6/08: Went back to GGP&IC for straight up Indian food (no pizza), which made me love and appreciate the free delivery even more. My food arrived piping hot exactly 40 min. after I ordered it, and both the chicken tikka masala and aloo gobi were great. To my delight, the entrees came with free rice (I hate places that charge for one of the cheapest foods available)....but sadly, the rice that arrived was a gooey mush. Hopefully this was a bad batch and next time it will be better. In any case, great Indian and fast, free delivery at a great price.

Love the Indian Pizza and Samosas here! They have a casual dining room, but I prefer to take out. Had a friend's b-day dinner here once, and it worked out well since we took over half the room with our party-goers. And there's relatively easy parking (you may have to walk a few blocks, but there's parking to be found), and an N-Judah stop out front. Indian Pizza is also a popular party food (hint hint). Ask for extra cuts on your pizza (party friendly).

From the outside this place looks a little sketch. But the dining section is pretty nice with great food. Get the Chicken Marsala, and Poori. I heard the pizza was a little bland so I got it with sausage. Id say a 8 out of 10. Not bad at all. I'll be back for sure.

Such a random place by the beach in the Sunset district. It's a hole in the wall but they have Indian style pizza! The crust taste like naan and it had curry sauce and tandoori chicken. Really cool concept. They serve regular indian cuisine and regular italian style pizza also. But I definitely recommend the Indian Chicken Pizza.

Given that I eat here at least once every week, it's high time I gave it a favorable review. While the atmosphere is lacking, the service is polite and the food ranges from "okay" to "delicious," averaging somewhere around "good." Basically a simple, reliable staple restaurant that I'm glad to have easy access to.

How cool with an interactive menu where you can order for the delivery in the comfort of your own pjs! Especially on a day you're feeling sicky. It's also nice how you can specify how spicy you want the individual dishes from a drop down box on their web-site. If you're recommended to gargle with cayenne pepper for a sore throat, you might as well stick with the hot foods anyways :-) We placed an on-line order for their small chicken pizza ($18), okra, prawn vindaloo, naaan, and the lamb samosas. Can you believe it arrived within half an hour? It tasted fresh, well-composed, and, yes, the chicken pizza is one of the better pizzas I've tried. Mainly because it's so flavorful, but also because all the toppings are cut in mince-size pieces and don't drown in the mozzarella cheese. Bottom-line: Golden Gate Pizza & Indian Cuisine has just beat Chinese as the default delivery option, and I look forward to exploring their menu further - just a click away!

It's pretty good, considering it's waaay out by 46th and Judah. The chicken tikka masala was actually tingily spicy (the way I like it). However, the baigan bharta was rather green and peas-y, and not very eggplanty. The food gets this place 3.5 stars, but the value bumps it up to 4.

  • Sara G.

I just want to pay tribute to the glorious cultural mish-mash genius that is Indian pizza. It makes a perverse sort of sense-- the same oven that works so well for the tikka and the naan is exactly right for pizza crust, right? Kind of like those places that do doughnuts and Chinese food, which I've always felt translated to "I have a deep fryer and I know how to use it." This is the only place I've ever had Indian pizza, although I gather from the other reviews that there is another purveyor in town-- shall have to check it out. But this pizza is good- I'm especially fond of the veggie, but I'll eat the chicken tikka pizza any old day. Delivery is fast out in my neck of teh woods too, and prices are reasonable. I have no clue what their other food is like and I'm not sure I care.

I have been getting food here for years! It is always fresh, yummy, and the delivery is quick. The folks who work there are super nice. Okay, now to the food... I have never ordered from the Indian menu and been disappointed. The Dal (my personal favorite) is so flavorful, the naan is always perfect, as are the other dishes I have tried! I agree with other posts that the cub appeal is not the best, though every time I have dinned there, the food outshines the decor. This is my go to place to get delicious food at my door and enjoy my night in. Give them a try!

I got a pineapple and ham pizza on a thick crust. The crust was really good, and they put a TON of pineapple and ham on it. In fact, next time I'll tell them to put less toppings on. The pizza was pretty big, even though I got a small. A small could feed 2 to 3 people. I'll definitely be going back in the near future. I'm excited to try a different flavor!

Saw a neighborhood flyer/ad about this place and saw that they offered an Indian lunch buffet for only $7.95 which sparked my interest. The only other Indian place I had really ever eaten at was Naan N Curry on Irving and I didn't exactly like how they arbitrarily came up with our total for the bill off the top of his head or how sometimes unclean the place looked so I hadnt been there in a while. I looked this place up on Yelp and everything seemed to be on the more positive side so I decided to try it out with my friends after watching a movie. The service was ok, not the warmest greetings as others have said, but it was good enough. We didn't know whether to head for the buffet stand right after sitting or not since the waitress didn't say anything but eventually I asked and she gave the ok. I needed to clarify we hadnt been there before. She later warmed up a little by asking if everything was to our liking and refilling our cups promptly (no ice tho which I wouldve liked). As for the food, I thought it was good. Certainly good enough for an $8 buffet! My friend commented on how less oily it was compared to Naan N Curry. I found the number and variety of buffet items to be adequate.

Holy crap y'all, this place is the shizznit! No, for reals. I needed a new Indian delivery place and this one fit the bill. They have an extensive menu, including standard indian fare, pizza and other italian food. The chicken tikka masala (which is always my litmus test) is perfect; not too spicy, not too buttery. The chicken itself is tender and flavorful. I also got the saag paneer which is very tasty, with generous hunks of cheese. On the plus side, they send everything in great plastic tupperware-like containers, instead of those flimsy paper cartons that leak masala sauce all over stuff. My fiance and I have eaten takeout form here twice this week, partially because a feast here is actually pretty cheap! And, it seems like they deliver almost everywhere. Give them a try, you'll be happy you did!

The ONLY reason why I give these guys my money is because they are the only place I know around here who delivers Indian food. Their pizza is blah. Their drivers are rude, one of the guys who knows me from another business venture pretends I'm his friend or something. I probably shouldn't be writing negative comments about places I eat so much, they might pin up my picture or something in their restaurant. OH IT'S THAT F'ING DONG GUY AGAIN, F HIM.

So it looks like a dive, inside & out. But, and I'm only going to say this twice: THE CURRY PIZZA IS TO DIE FOR!!!!!!! OK, so the phrase "curry pizza" makes no sense and if you try to explain it to someone it doesn't actually sound all that good. But I'm telling you: THE CURRY PIZZA IS TO DIE FOR!!!!!!! It's like nothing you've ever eaten. I get it every time I go there, and everyone I've ever made eat it became instantly hooked.

Ok, first off the pizza is good. Delivery is quite prompt and we did like this place BUT three times in a row they have changed the price on us. We order online, get a price from their system and wait for delivery. Once they called to say the computer miscalculated and that the price was a few bucks higher. Ok, I can accept that. But the other times the pizza arrived and the delivery guy wanted five bucks more. What is up with that? A quoted price is an agreed upon price no? So the delivery guy called up his boss or whoever and they proceeded to give a third price. Hm... that simply doesn't feel serious. I mean there is quite a difference between a twenty dollar pizza and a twenty five dollar pizza and I for one do not like an ultimatum after waiting for 40 minutes - pay the higher price or don't get the pizza... So hence the one star. If they had apologized and given me the pizza for the quoted price and promised to fix what ever is ailing their system, fine I would go back. But they have not apologized, and since this has happened three times in a row it doesn't seem like they want to fix their system (or are they in fact simply adding a couple of bucks to every order and making their online prices look better....). As it stands, they are acting as if it were somehow my fault that their system continuously miscalculated and that is not acceptable service. So, the pizza is good, their service sucks and I feel robbed every time I ordered from them.

It's kind of dirty. But that might be the best part. The food is ok. It's convenient. Only a few blocks away from where I like. They deliver. It's random. WTF. Indian food and pizza? But it hits the spot. And the portions are pretty generous.

Five Stars to the Chicken Tikka Masala. Technically, it's the only thing I've even ordered there (except for the naan... I recomment the fruit naan.... aaaagggglllhhhhh.... so yummy). OK. As for the Chicken Tikka Masala... I want to order a kiddie sized pool of this stuff, strip down naked and roll around in it. I am not kidding. If I knew I wouldn't stink for weeks afterwards, I'd probably do it. The Tikka Masala sauce IS THAT GOOD! I'm not going to lie when I admit that I have gone and ordered this, driven to Ocean beach, sat by myself in my car and watched the sunset... just me and the Tikka Masala Sauce. Of course I felt like a food molestor afterwards but really, that sauce is that good. As for the other food items, well, I can't say that I've tried them. Not to sure about pizza made in an Indian food place... Oh, and the naan is a little greasy, still good though. I like the fruit naan. Totally unique.

Really bad experience here... First the place looked pretty sketchy when we walked in... they have a really crowded entranceway followed by some tables in the back. After cleaning the beaches in the morning, I wanted to wash my hands. Their bathroom reeked of vodka... or maybe it was really disgusting smelling cleaning solution, but whatever it was... that pretty much killed my appetite. Or what was left of it after seeing their "buffet" which had like 5 items that looked days old... We ended up ordering pepperoni pizza thinking that there was no way they could screw it up. Well... I guess it's pretty hard to screw up something that simple, but it was still extremely greasy. I drove home with a stomach ache... good thing the food was paid for by our company. Don't think I'll be coming back to this place... bleh

Today I had a flyer attached to my front door... it was a delivery menu, and the first thing to catch my eye was a list of burgers... and voila! as I turn to the front, I see that it is from a restaurant that claims to specialize in Indian/Italian Cuisine...hehe I brought the menu up to amuse my hubby and then we ran the risk of ordering (without consulting yelp reviews)... Goodness, gracious,me! I ordered a veggie korma curry (medium spicy) BEST KORMA EVER? very possible. Even the rice was delectably prepared with fragrant leaves. The naan was pretty tasty, too! Friendly people on top of it all. Now if you excuse me, I completely gorged myself on every last drop of the korma and will be laying on the couch for the rest of the week while I digest. If I can ever resist that korma's charm, I may someday try the pizza.

I ordered from their website for delivery and it took about an hour. I had the lamb vindaloo which was a bit watery and not all that great. The tandoori chicken was good, but I asked for spicy hot and it was maybe mild-medium. Rice was not that good, but their nan is good. I had the onion, garlic, and kabli nan, which came sliced into fours and stacked neatly separated by wax paper. The nan had a nice consistency to it, but a little on the thin side. I was craving indian food the whole day so it hit the spot. Next time I'll try their pizza. It seems like that's more of their specialty. Overall, not bad. I will probably order from them again when I'm too lazy to go pick it up or eat out.

As a starving college student I take advantages of all-you-can-eat buffets. Golden gate Indian food has one everyday from 11-2 AND for only $7.95! You can't beat that! They have great food and they serve you hot Naan beard. YOU SHOULD GO!
